Involuntarily coming up on the 96 hour marker without sleep. I am heavily medicated, 300mg Trazodone (350 on nights like tonight), 10mg Ambien, and a plethora of other medications that "cause" drowsiness that I wont list because it''s none of your business HA! lol... I'm actually usually able to sleep on my "cocktail" but have not been able to as of the last few days for unknown reasons. Just wanted to see if anyone else on here suffers the same fate, and if you do I'm sorry! Let's talk about it!

EDIT!!!
Now 2 hours of sleep stronger! Going into my next day (don't make me do the math right now too tired) with 2 hours of sleep for coming close to a week without (I think). Yay!

EDIT 2!!
Finally went through all the posts and responded to most everything that had anything meaningful other than, "No I've never slept." etc. If I missed you yell at me again so I can respond, this has been a really interesting and enlightening experience and I've made some good friends! I think I'm going back to bed for the night just going to toss and turn tonight and see what happens so the thread wont be as active tonight. Wish me luck!

Have you actually been diagnosed, or could you potentially be diagnosed with insomnia? (Episodes of mania via Bipolar Disorder will answer yes. Energy Drinks/Coffee users answer no unless it is truly an addiction.)

I do get bouts of insomnia when I get really stressed out.
Don't like taking meds though, they tend to mess a lot more with my head than the lack of sleep does. So other alternatives are to take a few days off before it gets to that point (if I feel it coming), and some slow breathing exercises. The latter can put me in a trance-like state that's almost as good as actual sleep when I'm tired enough....

Stress is the worse...

Actually that's something a lot of people do, meditation... I personally can't do it because racing thoughts/negative thinking prevents any success of a free open mind. It really helps some people when I was going to group therapy, they would say how it changes basically everything about them because they can truly ponder everything about life and not just stress about the little things and think about the big picture. Might be worth a shot?

Stress freaking sucks, sadly we all deal with it. Everyone deals with it differently and some people deal with it more effectively than others. For example, this no sleeping thing is pissing me the hell off. I want nothing more than to call my doctor and cuss him out. Thankfully it's late and he's not in his office, and it's not really his fault that I have problems and he's trying to help me with them.

Officially? No.

However, I do have trouble going to bed early, it fucks me up completely and I usually end up not falling asleep for much longer than if I go to bed late.

I have a similar issue. Its almost like a fear of the next day so I just put off sleep as long as possible.

I could potentially be diagnosed; I don't know if I would be. I can often spend up to an hour or two past when I wanted to go to bed either working or procrastinating and often another hour or two falling asleep. Oh well, such is life.

Well, it's one thing to have a hard time falling asleep. It's another to not be able to sleep. Which is it? Hopefully my tone doesn't seem hateful, I definitely have no ill will lol.

It sort of lapses between the two- back in high school and undergrad there would be nights I just wouldn't sleep; now I seem to be able to fall asleep most of the time but I wake up pretty frequently throughout the night and it can take a long time to shut back down.

I barely ever sleep. Been on a ton of different meds for insomnia, sometimes they work for a short while or not at all.

Yeah, a lot of people earlier in the thread were saying they would take them for a while and the effectiveness would just stop after a few months. I've been pretty lucky for the most part until this little spell. Thanks for sharing.

I sometimes suffer from small problems with my sleep. Like, I could lay down at 3 am, but stay awake for the next 2-3 hours, causing me to only sleep 3-4h per night. This sometimes repeats a few days in a row, but then I sleep for 12h+ on the weekend and reset.

Never been diagnosed though, but then again, I've never looked for help in that matter. Still, I just think that it's mostly the fault of my lifestyle, imbalanced hours of sleep and the amount of time I spend in front of the PC (job + gaming).
