I wasn't really recommending it in a good way, game is bad AND requires so much time to get to max level. If you liked ZHP you might want to give cladun a try, its on steam and on PSP.

Heh. MapleStory. Tons of characters, and it takes forever to hit max level. You'll be playing for... at least months if you dedicate a lot of time everyday. Like, the whole day every day for several months.
If you got a PSP, then I recommend Disgaea! Grind that forever, get max level characters, get max level items for your characters, get max level enemies for your max level characters for your max level grinding! But, you probably know of Disgaea already.

Maplestory isn't any good anymore. I enjoy games where you grind a lot too (and I enjoyed Maplestory because of that sole reason), the game is so easy to play now it isn't even funny. I can get to level 150 in probably less than a month if I really felt like it without trying a bit.

...you want a grinding game?
Runescape. No game touches it for grinding.

I wasn't aware that there were people who used "grindfest" as a positive term. Or that it wasused to advertise games...
Guess I learned something new.

There are games that gives you the option to grind A LOT like disgaea. Its not necessary for the story, but if you want to reach high levels you're free to. There are optional bosses that you can fight at really high levels.

I suppose you could say that Dungeons of Dredmor and FTL are grindfests. They don't move toward a long-term level like Disgaea and ZHP Unlosing Ranger, but you grind over and over again, endlessly, in a way that is VERY fun, just like those games.

Mabinogi is pretty good an on Steam currently. It has a combat system similar to Paper Mario, the ability to play as a literal child and kill bears, free reign to build your character anyway you want, lots of crafting, randomly generated dungeons, huge world, and apparently the community is very nice. It's an MMO and they manage to keep most of the real life purchases to cosmetics or other superficial stuff.
