Yeah i saw xpaw (the SteamDB developer) mentioned it on twitter. I would keep an eye on him to see if he finds more internal news about it... https://twitter.com/thexpaw

i like the way they brag on the ads about how great chrome books are when they can't even use Steam yet

It's certainly typical of Google as usual.
If ChromeOS becomes available for gaming, I have a feeling that people who want to throw Windows in the trash will modify it and use it.
So I was a little curious.
(Probably shouldn't expect it to work reliably, though.)

Thinking about how powerless Chromebooks are, I guess this will serve as a remote play from another Steam session, since it's already a Google thing with Stadia (wondering how is it not dead yet). ChromeOS is based on Gentoo, so they will need native Linux games if they plan something bigger than streaming. Or something like custom Wine, like Valve did with Proton.

Stadia…
Google unveils ‘Immersive Stream for Games,’ its service that lets companies use Stadia’s tech – TechCrunch
Come to think of it, there was this story.

Or something like custom Wine, like Valve did with Proton.

When you say Wine, it reminds me a little of the first period....
Is it stable now? Yes, it is true that you think about that.

It seems Google is already reshaping Stadia. Though this was expected after they shut down their own developer studio.

Is it stable now?

After Valve directly involved in Wine's development phase, things went faster in upstream. Currently there is version 7, released recently. For being stable, it was always stable but the games that run good on it were much fewer comparing today. People's general complaint is the developers haven't implemented Linux-compatible Easy Anti Cheat and BattlEye for their games which isn't directly Wine related. Other than that everything goes pretty nicely.
