If you love Indy you'll enjoy the game because he looks great in it https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3513487355 and so does the environment https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3520321102. I recommend this game.

Not a fan of the 1989 The Last Crusade and 1992 Fate of Atlantis prequels in that series? :P
I mean, sure, they're not 3D/real-time, but they're much better reviewed than the two you mentioned (or most other games ever made), so I think it's more fair to compare those on narrative to the new game, than to compare games from the early, clunky 3D era with current 3D ones, as far as gameplay mechanics go. :P
Rather, a more fair gameplay comparison to the recent release would be trying out the (emulated, presumably) PSP version [note, the other console releases for PS2, DS, and Wii all had various issues] of 2009's Staff of Kings, which was largely considered to have better gameplay, QoL features, and flow than the previous games (though various polish issues, and the issues the game had on other console releases, ended up giving it a worse reputation overall- the PSP's generally considered to be an 8/10, while the Wii is generally considered a 7/10, but the DS and PS2 releases seem to trend more to 6 and 5, respectively.)
Well, any true fan would try and play all of the games, of course. ~.^
In any case, as far as Great Circle, the gameplay's not supposed to be very similar to the earlier games at all- typically I see gun/cover/etc combat comparisons made to Wolfenstein games (note, same developer), stealth comparisons made to Hitman/Dishonored, and an overall adventure/hand-to-hand-combat/etc vibe comparison to Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher's Bay (again, same developer- or, rather, a previous iteration of the same development studio under a different name),
Comparatively, Infernal Machine and Emperor's Tomb are mostly compared to the Tomb Raider games of that era (Infernal to TR 1-5, Emperor's to AoD & LAU era) and, unlike the Soul Reaver games [which were generally considered to be mechanically superior to comparable era Tomb Raider games] the Indiana Jones games were generally considered to fall short compared to the Tomb Raider games of their era (in terms of gameplay, not narrative, which was more typically praised, especially in how they tied into the movies; Specifically, even though the focus on combat over platforming was appreciated by many, and the level design and narrative were considered superior to TR games, the clunkier controls and muddy graphics generally are considered to fall short compared to comparable TR games).
Well, that's what fuzzy memories of 20 years ago say, at least, but a quick google for confirmation does seem to give consistently similar feedback, as well.

A poster of discerning culture I see!
We would be remiss not to include the Raiders of the Lost Ark game, by Atari, from 1982 from your list if we are going to do a full comparative breakdown.
Although laughable as a game by current metrics it was groundbreaking for its time and included such wonders as collecting items for puzzle solving purposes and changing play style mechanics to get through certain parts of the game - groundbreaking stuff at the time. I might not be as big an Indy fan as someone like the YouTube Alex Arnold (Who apparently loves the new game) but I agree that the enjoyment, for me at least, peaked at the Lucasarts point-and-click era for the franchise.
The Great Circle is an enjoyable enough fluff piece which respects the franchise enough to include Chronicles easter eggs.
But would I recommend it to people who are casual players - nope. It's too pricey for casual and not groundbreaking enough for those who like to buy the risk-taking games which may or may not alter the state of gaming.
But with a decent sale and en empty backlog - go ahead, it is fun :)

There's definitely a ton of places where you can tell it's not Harrison Ford if you think about it, but the voice actor does a great job in portraying a convincing Indy overall, and for the most part it's a lot more immersive (in the sense of feeling like you're playing an Indy story) than any previous game.
As far as the rest of it goes.. well, can't possibly be a worse experience than Dial of Destiny and Crystal Skull, right? >.>
There's consistent criticisms about the combat being repetitive, both combat [gun or melee] and stealth being clunky, and of both lore collectibles and hub areas being annoying breaks in gameplay flow. Some people also criticize the environments as being too reliant on movie nostalgia (in terms of design themes, not specific locations; I believe college where Indy is a professor is the only straight-from-movies area in the game) and not on originality, but that's obviously a far more subjective criticism.
Beyond those elements? Haven't really seen much as far as consistent criticisms, with everything else (graphics, atmosphere, narrative, puzzles, etc) being largely praised. So if none of those elements sound like dealbreakers, probably worth your giving it a go?

I had a great time with it, but the title of best Indy game still belongs to the Fate of Atlantis.

Absolutely yes, it’s very beautiful and the story is what you want from Indiana Jones. Amazing temples and puzzles, only area it comes a bit short in is the gameplay, but it’s nothing too bad. The game pleasantly surprised me and more people need to play it.

yes, and get the dlc too. it integrates into the game very well and would probably be better if you play it before beating the game
