Hello!

For now i chose to refund my DE. After watch some reviews i decided that there's no difference and it can be worst sometimes.
I already have the original one, played a little but stopped for some unknown reason, but now i'll return and the 85% off called my attention, but don't worth for me.

I'd like to know from real people what do you think of the game and what version do you have/prefer.

I can't speak for the original, but the DE version crashes constantly for me. It's related to Windows 10. There are various fixes around, but none of them worked well for me.

Edit: I'm running Windows 10 64 bit. I did read it works better in Windows 7/8.1 so if you are running those you might not have those issues.

Your info is a life saver! Indeed, people can't buy the original one anymore. :(

Not sure if you mean that or if that is meaning I left out too many details like my system specs and what not. I have become so jaded that I usually take most positive sounding comments as backhanded ones! Either way I updated to say I am running Windows 10 64 bit!

The website looks familiar so I think I did. It was back in July when I tried the last time to play it. Thank you though!

The DE edition is the cheaper way to have all DLC's today.

Sadly. I jumped when i saw the DE version on sale so cheap with all DLC... then remembered hearing about loads of issues with it (especially for lower end machines).
Only ever had one issue with the original, and that was purely a temp glitch.

Sleeping Dogs is the kind of game that has input lag if you have fps lag. I can only imagine what the DE feels like, with all the shenanigans they did with the graphics.

I put 50 hours into the original and bought the DE when it was released.
Honestly, I think the original looked and "felt" better when playing it. It ran more smoothly, and the graphics were much sharper.
The DE's graphics seemed muddy, and I remember there being a lot more fog - which didn't add anything to the game.

Still one of my favorite games.

Thanks for your words. Indeed, the DE didn't is much more than a "remix" with all dlcs built-in and some new breakable objects, nothing more.

I played the original version for around 50 hours and really enjoyed it, but didn't buy the content DLC at that time. Unfortunately, the Definitive Edition isn't sold in Germany, but superseded the old version in the Steam store => so neither DLC nor Definitive Edition available for us.

Yes, that ...exactly that. It shows the fog and the muddy textures I spoke of in my earlier comment.

I haven't had any problems with DE whatsoever, that I can recall [on Windows 10 64b]. As far as graphics, the DE has fog effects and more nuanced lighting, compared to darker and more glossy look of the original game. As far as DLCs, I think most are outfit-based, with only a small handful being content related- and those only offering additional one-shot side-missions. The list of DLC and their content can be examined here.

One interesting distinction is that the cosmetic auto-unlocks and starting cash boosts from the original game's DLCs don't carry over to the DE, with the DE instead letting you purchase the DLC outfits (in the same way you would normal outfits) from a special shop.

I had no problem with DE, but I am still sticking to the original. Oh well, gotta complete it - it's been long overdue.

I've 100%d both, there's some obvious and some subtle differences between the two but I think it's generally a matter of different than better/worse, both in terms of the graphics and the way the DLCs are handled. Should have called it 'Different Edition'. :D

DE at 85% off is a bargain and getting the original and all its DLC would be more hassle/expense, so go for the DE.

Edit: Oops, reading fail, you've already got the original, that makes it slightly trickier. Still, DE's probably worth it for the sake of all the DLC - not that any of it is must-have, but enjoyable enough.
