My uncle spent 5 years in China as an engineer for an aviation company, and he loved it.
Too bad you don't get more time in Japan, though. China then Japan would make for an amazing trip. :)

So tentative plan is to leave 4/15 afternoon, arrive in Shanghai 4/16 and stay in the city overnight during the layover, then fly out early next morning to Nanning. This is my first time going there, so I want to stay with all my coworkers on the way there. I'm going to try to change my departure schedule though - leaving Nanning 4/23 morning, but instead of following everyone to Shanghai for another overnight stay, I'm trying to go to Tokyo or Osaka and coming back to the US the following night.
