I appear to be a couple dozen games less since retiring to bed last night this morning. I got no warning message anywhere. No clue what was removed. My friend also reports to same problem and handed me a list of games supposedly being culled by Valve from accounts permanently. More likely many Greenlit games, banned publishers, free games at stake? How does removing it from accounts help?

Can someone verify whats happening?

So the big question. if not in steam API and not inactivated list are won games now counted un-activated?
Edit: My another friend reports 80 games lost since last night.

Well, technically it's still +1 to your library, just not included in the e-peen profile game count 乁( ◔ ౪◔)ㄏ

My game count brings all the girls to the yard,
And they're like,
Its better than yours,
Damn right its better than yours,
Gabe can teach you,
But he has to charge.

Is it possible that removed games won in SG are detected by SGtools as unactivated?

If it doesnt show as +1 and in steam store api chances are yeah it may show as unactivated.

knsys has already added them to the whitelist on sgtools, so it shouldn't cause a problem for now.

Yes, I think I'm having this problem with KEK story, at least regarding SGtools

SGTools needs to exclude those games if they haven't already done so.

Almost all the removed games are those that are mass given away from asset flippers such as digital suicide so idk why people are still grieving about it.

still not all - things like Barbie, Young Justice League, Driver, Doctor Who games, Catan, RISK, SCRABBLE, Monster High were all normal games, removed not because of flipping exploits but because of licences ending. sad to see normal games getting hit in the process.

Ah my bad. Atleast valve could make an exception for those specifics.

Yeah I actually played Young Justice, had a decent time with it, and reviewed it.. unfortunate that it had to be removed from my game count..
Same for Driver (minus the review), I bought both of those on steam too.

Is there a way to find out the number of the games that were removed from the game count if I didn't pay attention to my numbers?

If you haven't synchronized SG since the games removal, I guess you can still check your old numbers on your personal profile page.
Other than that, I don't really now. Maybe SteamDB has some feature for that...

Oh thanks, that actually worked. SG shows 2212 games, whereas my profile on Steam only shows 2176 or so. Thanks!

Following games seem to be unbanned during maintenance:

Really glad to see this - I had been extremely irritated that some of the games I had on that list (Pressure, Doctor Who, the Star Trek game which no one seemed to notice was affected) had lost their achievements. I assume people could still get them, but the achievements page was inaccessible. Back now. Yay!

I think game count might have been fixed few hours after, but PICS/Community/API wasn't fixed until now.

(PICS is system steam client uses to update game info)

Should store banned games be deleted from owner accounts also?

No matter how you look at this, the answer has to be "No", unless Valve decides to reimburse the users for their games by giving them their money back, and then it's impossible to tell how much a lot of the people spent on it, because keys can be obtained in multiple ways.

It's like going and buying a t-shirt from a brand like nike and then when it turns out that t-shirt is actually taken out of stores for some sort of legal issue, nike comes to your door and demands the shirt back. "Hi, in our transactions it shows you purchased this specific shirt, we're here today to pick it up at your house due to the legal issues we've had with the design", would that make any sense or would that be okay with anyone? I personally would ask "why is that my problem, I already paid for it?".

Which is why I'm certain the way publishing games on steam works in such a way that once a game is removed those who bought it before keep it, and in cases of DMCA takedowns, they might do things like changing the textures themselves in an update, such as they did with the m4a4 howl in CS GO.
