steam game gift problem

I know that there are problems with the steam community pages as well as the wish lists lately. I made a trade yesterday for a gift and when I try to add it to my library it says "unable to add this game to your library. It may have already been redeemed.". Could this also be caused by steam being screwie lately? I have seen others with this problem the last day or so too. If this isn't related, does anyone know of a fix? Thanks

Nope, just glitchy Steam. The item is in his incentory, it wouldn't be if really used. Steam is drunk.

Ok, that's better, I heard about some scamers doing this type of scam and tought this was it!

Since you can't give people a used inventory item, it isn't a scam. Its just a glitch that has been around since Valve dropped a hammer.
