They sure will try (and take a cut, of course)

IMO some mods ARE worth money, though. I'd prefer an integrated donation button, but ofc Steam won't do that.

Just in case anyone wants to know what he's talking about

Why are some mods free and other cost money?
Each mod author decides whether they think there is enough customer interest in their mod to list it for sale. Just like buying a game, paying for a mod helps to support and reward the team (sometimes consisting of just one person) who have worked hard to create that new content.

Not really related, but the other day I realised there's a "Skyrim" tab in my inventory.
Is that new?

No, its been around for at least 6 months. Doesnt matter if you never paid for any mods or not.

Well, Ive had a tab there since before the paid mods for skyrim, and have certainly not bought any mods.

The only other thing it would be tied to would be if you have ever used the workshop for skyrim. Outside of that I have no clue.

They are prepping for the Fallout 4. Steam will make a fortune from that game for the next 5 years or so. In all seriousness, paid mods are dead for the moment.

In my opinion, paid mods should be added to steam store not workshop

I think paid mods will surface again in Fallout 4.
Despite previous setback, paid mods are "too good" to be left behind, not to mention that it do adds monetary benefits to some mods that are great.

I am fine with paid mods, as long as the author is supporting it tremendously. Just take a look at Skyrim mods. We fully accept if we use mods it would break our game for a lot of reasons. If I use a paid mod, I don't want the mods to ruin my game. Not to mention that mods tend to conflict with each other or with the base game (people using tons of mods in Skyrim will know this, as it takes a lot of time and effort to be able to use multiple mods), this is a difficult condition for modders, but if you put your product on a price, I, as a customer, have the right to demand a 100% working product.

The last issue is the "trial" period. 2 hours is way too short. If you use extensive mods you could see if it is working or not easily, but how if I bought mods to change the final levels of my adventure? 2 hours is way too small.

I said once, i will said twice.

I am willing to paid for mods, but only for new content like quests etc. No for only new cluster fuck HD pixels etc.

They will obviously be back with Fallout 4, despite all of Bethesda's bs that they won't try it again. So yeah, prepare to pay for .ini edits that fix the bugs Bethesda never will.

Depending of the kind of shitstorm that starts up this time, more devs might try it in the future with new, modable games.

This means game overhaul mods that can be free or sold on Steam as games, not the workshop stuff.

Nothing to see here, move along.
