Wow, they're pretty good! That's so cool how they have both language versions haha.

People from other countries really liked them, so they had to make English versions to make themselves a bit more international :D

It's just a fun word my friends learned me :D And cmon man, every country has some pros and cons. Slovakia sucks as well in terms of living here, services, politicians and stuff but we have beautiful nature, some outstanding places/cities, great food and gorgeous women!

Next time, teach someone how to make their own links clickable ;P.
It's easy to teach: [text here][]()(link here) is all you need to type and hopefully they'll have enough brain power to understand that.

I'm from Finland and very interested in making music myself but just can't get started. I don't actually know anyone in a band. One of my friends makes music but that's not worth posting here. There is another band from Turku though and he knows their members. Pretty cool music, been to their gigs a few times: Panemme uudestaan. And that song in english is called "We f*ck again".
When it comes to Finnish music in general I'm a bit picky I guess. Apulanta, CMX, Von Hertzen Brothers, Sentenced and Cryhavoc are pretty good. I believe some electronic music artists are fine too like 501.

Yes some of my friends are in a band, but they really just do covers of other peoples stuff, think they may have written one or two songs but not much.
As for my favourite band from my country? Iron Maiden.

I live in South Africa, Cape Town. It's probably one of the most diverse areas in the world in terms of culture: at the moment there's a big EDM and PsyTrance scene, but House is always popular. Most of you will know the "Zef" culture popularised by Die Antwoord as well. I have an old schoolmate who is currently touring with an Afrikaans rocker; the Afrikaans guys have a whole subset of music as well.
Here's a few examples of some local music:
Some of the more famous bands from South Africa: Seether, Dave Matthews band, Die Antwoord, Kongos

I love South Africa! Especially Cape Town (definitely would like to go there one day)! Even because of music you've got there.. Die Antwoord, Skip&Die.. Favorite bands! And Phaze is one of my most favorite drum'n'bass artists.

So I'm from Slovakia and we have couple of talented people here :)
Some bands:
Purist - Indie/electronic
Walter Schnitzelson - Indie rock/rock'n'roll
Puding pani Elvisovej - Indie pop/electronic - you obviously wouldn't understand the lyrics but music itself is awesome, isn't it? : )
Peter Lipa - Jazz/blues - one of the top-notch european jazz artists
B-Complex - Drum'n'bass - if you are into drum'n'bass music, you should know this name
Smote - Drum'n'bass - not rly well known drum'n'bass artist, but he's the best I think
Polemic - Raggae/ska - I decided to introduce them to you with some cover, but to be honest I think their own tracks are much much better, so if you're into some raggae/ska, definitely check it out!

I personally do not really listen to ethno/folk/traditional music but we've got some bands/musicians here. For example Hrdza, Družina.. In case of traditional music: definitely one of the most popular composers - Eugen Suchoň. However as I said this is music I'm not rly into, so definitely somebody who listens to this often could give you more and better examples but this is what I know.

Recently, my friends' band broke up, and since then I've actually been surprised at how much I'm gonna miss them making music. I went to their first few gigs, then they decided to move cities to try and reach a larger audience. The good news is since the band dissolved, one of them has moved back to my city (so now we can hang out again, yay!) but I'm gonna miss the music, they were a great band and I thought their individual talents meshed together really well.
So I guess my questions to you are, are you in/do you have friends in a band? Do you have a favourite band from your city or country? Do you go to gigs often? Is the local music scene in your area thriving or a bit on the sparse side? I used to live in a small city where the heavy music community in particular is really tight-knit and all the gig-goers know each other, but they often have trouble pulling numbers and larger bands to the area and gigs are usually every two weeks. Now that I live in the state capital, there's a local act to see most days of the week if you can be bothered going out.
