Will you buy it there ?

No I won't buy it there because I won't buy it at all!
I think the poll is missing 2 answers:

  1. I buy it on a console
  2. I won't buy it at all

Because now if people say no you have no idea if they mean no for Epic or no for the game.

Yes, to bad you can't sort of restart polls with different answers added, though I can also understand why you can't...
Never heard of the game before, just noticed the console stuff after I clicked the link you posted :P

There could be other options too:

  1. Can't buy it there.
  2. Can't buy it there so won't buy it anywhere - e.g. PSN or Xbox Live.

Here in Korea, one of the biggest PC gaming markets, you can only actually buy three games - 2 of which are f2p (Fortnite and Unreal Tournament) and the other (Shadow Complex), despite actually being published by EPIC, is more expensive than on the Steam store.

So yeah, f@ck EPIC - and actually f@ck the devs (assuming they're actually aware of the millions of people unable to buy their products).

I think I can buy it there BUT it's more expensive than Steam and I also heard that if you live in the EU they add a price after you added it to your cart, not sure if that's really true or not, but still, that makes it even MORE expensive.
I rather just keep my games on Steam and keep it that way, Epic can just ......

FateOfOne is already maintaining a dedicated thread for keeping track of Epic updates. Unless you've a vested interest in getting feedback on a particular game, it'd likely be more suitable to post information to that thread rather than create new ones.

I'll go with the potato option.

For me it's either Steam or PSN, since it's not coming to Steam, PSN it is!

im laughing so hard, when these kind of developers go like exclusive, yes, they get free adversity, thats it, but who thinks that many people are interested in their gameS? D:

Damn, its one of only like 10 upcoming games I wanted enough to put on my Steam wishlist too :(
That said, considering the state of Steam these days I really can't blame the devs.

I think a blanket No poll to all the Epic exclusives is probably a given on a site called Steamgifts but I've also read a lot of people who were initially happy to see Steam get competition are feeling disappointed in Epic's service so maybe they're not doing very well.

Personally I don't mind having to use different clients and I've been enjoying the freebies but I don't know if it's going to change anything that's problematic with Steam so it feels like a little bit of a pointless teenage rebellion more than real change.

No Steam, no buy. Simple as that :)

Epic can fuck right off with their shitty store, bribing publishers to have a game released exlusively on their store is the kind of shit that shouldn't be acceptable (but sadly, it somehow is).

I don’t mind Epic exclusives that don’t do switcharoos. I probably won’t buy it though. It would be nice if savings for developers from platform competition also transfer in part to consumers too.

I'm starting to think no one is moving their game to Epic for sales, but for word of mouth. Release a well made game on steam today, even a sequel to a somewhat knows A/AA indie, and you still need tons of money for marketing to have enough people hear about it, wishlist it, maybe buy it... feel lucky if any press pays attention to it. Youtubers will only play it if it's popular, but it will only be popular if youtubers play it. And so on.

On the other hand, just say you'll release exclusively on Epic, and you'll get ton of free press in the next 24h, mentions in youtube videos... and then 6-12 months later when you do release on steam, people will recognize the name instantly. Boom, sales.

My opinion on how some devs might be thinking, not a review of the current situation in any way

There's so many games on Steam that often times smaller games can get swallowed up and not noticed, especially ones that can't afford advertising or don't have a well known publisher. On the Epic Games Store all of the games are displayed on one page and the games move around, so all of the games on the store will have some time at the top.

And while this is my opinion I can say that this opinion is shared by a dev from a dev team that does have a game on the Epic Games Store.

My point exactly, but I'd say it happens to "medium" sized games too. And it's really hard to blame those devs who do make the move. They are, after all, just protecting their games from... the dark void.

Game development can be really rough. That 12% more on the Epic Games Store vs Steam could make a huge difference for some studios. Being friends with devs both in indie and AAA studios I've had a decent amount of conversations about the industry. I've seen the really bad side of the industry(studio closure, layoffs etc.) as well and how it's affected some of those people personally. So no I don't blame any dev studio/publisher for wanting to make a move to the Epic Game Store.
