I don't know who else played any of the old might and magic games, where you would explore the world in a first person perspective with a party of 4 or 6 characters, depending on the game, in the overworld and dungeons, fighting dragons and zombies and all those tried and true RPG style enemies. One of the games that I grew up with, though never got far in, was Might and Magic 7: For Blood and Honor, which seems to be regarded the best of the series (so far), and I picked up the series as a bundle on sale on GOG.com a week or two (or three) ago, and it occurred to me to look into why there would be a sale like that. I ended up finding this Might and Magic X: Legacy. This being in the new world they have in the heroes games I guess, "Ashen" I think it is, only played some of Heroes 4, and don't remember a lot.

Was wondering what people thought of this.

I own Might and Magic VI: The Mandate of Heaven, but haven't played it for years. It had the little problem that playing it on more recent PCs would play it faster.

My previous PC had me dead before I got to move. This one would likely have me dead before starting, breaking something in reality.

I had that problem on my last computer one M&M 7 last time I found the disk, and I did find a solution, although I don't remember what it was. Probably a patch. I thought that game was fun too.

M&M6 is one of my favorite games of all time. It was an awesome experience, from getting mauled by hordes of a hundred goblins at the start of the game to shooting down dragons and titans with laser rifles and meteor showers in the end game.

Then M&M9 came out. That trash is the entire reason why the series ended there.

MM6 is one of my favourite games as well. I've played MM6, 7, and 8. I tried 9, but it was terrible and I couldn't get into it.

Edit: I remember fighting Titans for the first time in 1st person mode, unlike in Heroes of M&M where everything was 2D. Oh god I was only up to the Titan's knee. The dragons in Dragonsand dropped great loot but they were tough bitches.

What blew my mind was the Star Trek reference I almost missed

I've been sort of abstractly meaning to get a game or 2 in the series from gog but hadn't taken the time to look into which it should be yet. guess I missed a sale lol, I should put myself on some sort of mailing list.

other than that i guess mild surprise since I didn't expect a new one since I had the impression it was an older series lol.

The new game is going to be published by Ubisoft, according to the information, which means that UPlay will be required to run it.

Ehh, I don't see everyone requiring people to use their system to play their games a good idea. It will cause people to either avoid them or have a bunch of different game programs running on their computer. Seems to me, the newer AC games required Uplay, but that didn't seem to affect me any.

I absolutely hate UPlay. Let me tell you a story of the first game I bought that required UPlay. I got Anno 2070 from the Steam summer sale last year. It was the number 1 game on my wishlist, and you can guess how excited I was to play. You know what happened? The UPlay servers were down. For that entire week. I couldn't play a game I legitimately bought for a week.
