Every time I played a free game for the promise of free cards, it was a lie. The free version of Hitman 2 didn't drop cards. In fact, when I asked about Hitman 2, I was explicitly told that I had to remove the free version from my account so the paid version would drop cards! That's literally the opposite of what I was promised! It got to the point that when I heard the same thing about Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium, I didn't even bother trying it out.
EDIT: After double-checking my inventory, I saw that Grimm did drop a card after all, so maybe I'll give Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium a chance.

Capcom Stadium offerings dropped cards for a short period before they were disabled. That's been the case for a lot of free card drop offerings ever since the option to disable card drops was introduced. Hitman 2 dropped cards just fine with the free Prologue, I believe the Starter Pack that replaced the Prologue disabled card drops and also glitched card drops until removed from active licenses.
You may not want to use the word "lie" so casually, as it can come across rather offensive, even in a generalized context. It's also worth noting that the relevant threads usually discuss this kind of thing in detail, so there's rarely any miscommunication on these matters unless you've managed to pop in during the unfortunate timing of "developer changed things but SG community hasn't had a change to note those changes yet", or you've happened upon a situation where "weird stuff is happening that noone can really figure out".
As such there's really not typically ever a situation where you'll come across collective feedback that can be considered as "misleading", nevermind "a lie", as everyone's generally trying their best to help figure things out as clearly as possible.
(Note that in English a lie by definition requires "intent" [ie, to deceive], and as such is always viewed as being related to a negative contextualization.)

There've been quite a few threads on this in the past. It's been a while though, so there may be new mentions that deserve to be noted here. While you wait on feedback on that, you can check this thread and also use this search to try and find other past threads.

World of Warships drops cards when you add DLC that have a base price but are temporarily free during a promo. Same for Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium. Probably would also happen with other games that have in-app purchases if they did 100% off DLC promos. In this case it doesn't matter if it's 100% off, it's the DLC's base price that counts for the calculation. (So a 20 USD DLC will give you two cards for example.)

Hi all.
The question arose what kind of free games give game cards, that is, you do not need to replenish the balance or buy something.
I know one - The Descendant (https://store.steampowered.com/app/351940/The_Descendant/).
I guess there was a Grimm game (https://store.steampowered.com/app/252150/Grimm/) but it's no longer available, I guess.
Do you know such games?
