Only 100% positive. People need to buy that game I guess. So they can negatively review

That one is great Developer. Frozenbyte care about their older products, that alone is enough for me.

It's cheap enough that I'd buy it by accident, and poking around in old Groupees bundles it seems I already did... Doesn't sounds like the sort of person I'd want to give my money, actually... :)

I find it hilarious how the developer kept restating that he is the only developer account but said he did none of what he was accused for despite evidence

Yeeesh. While I don't know the entire story behind this drama, it looks like a spectacular meltdown. How do these guys creep on to the steam store ? Where is the bloody QA or curation ? These days steam store is like a dark and dangerous place.

You missed 2 things. This one, along with a game advertized to have 8 levels, but to scam people, the dev only made 1 unbeatable level so he wouldn't have to make the other 7 levels. He didn't expect someone to decompile the game and get proof of it. Now he's saying a bugfix removed every trace of levels 2-8 (The maps, the assets, even the triggers to load the levels), but somehow level 1 was completely untouched. He also refuses to show proof that level 1 is beatable. He has another game with an achievement that wasn't programmed into the game, it was just added to make the steam store page look shinier. Similarly, he refuses to tell people how to get the achievement.

This one is a lot funnier though. Because the dev is blaming a steam global mod for his problems, it might even be funnier than the digital homicide meltdown.

Oh, and the best part, he claims there are hints to his unbeatable level in the trading cards. He's trying to trick users into not getting refunds by waiting for card drops. And spoiler alert: there are no hints.

That's not as bad as giving away The Slaughtering Grounds. That dev was doing the same as the Estetiikka dev. Banning everyone who said anything negative or neutral about their game (Thanks for the free copy=ban). But instead of harassing a steam global mod, Digital Homicide (Who changes the punctuation of their studio name for every game so clicking their studio from a game page only brings up search results with that game), decided to harass a reviewer. They copyright claimed his video, removed the audio, and replaced it with them mocking him. And they made 3 dummy accounts (All of their names were [AdjectiveNounNumbers) to post (the only) positive reviews. They then later went on to create an autobiography game called Temper Tantrum, that uses exclusively free unity assets, refusing to make anything themselves. Which might've been a good idea, considering how the jpeg blood effects in The Slaughtering Grounds turned out.

The Slaughtering Grounds was comprised of cobbled together Unity assets as well. One of the things they were saying when that exploded was that paying for assets was what made the whole indie development scene run, and that they needed to do it to support content creators. This was, of course, completely disregarding the fact that if you take a bunch of random art by different people and try to stick it all together without a lick of modification it's going to look terrible no matter how good the art is (and this art was certainly not good).

Whole community page for this game is a gold mine Clicky

I alos like that game creator (?) seems to have created a new account and now try to fool people that game is now in hand of new team xD Another Clicky

Also a sad reminder that steam don't have any kind of quality control ;/

What is the story behind this besides banning people?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Devs did things like: deleting all negative and mixed comments and reviews, impersonating mods, banning a global Steam mod, saying that Steam mods were posting fake screenshots, calling steam mods liars and saying they are unprofessional, being rude and obnoxious, abusing Steam/devs power etc.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Holy shit wow that is insane. Stuff like this needs to be prevented. This is why steam refund is such an important tool for people.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yes it is, and I guess Estetiikka can go now on the same pile like The Slaughtering Grounds and Takedown: Red Sabre. Also it's shows that some devs really do misuse and abuse their Steam powers.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You think steam could do something like not allow the companies, who abuse their power, not allow them to sell their games on steam?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

and how would you enforce it? create new account, but 100$ greenlight subscription item and bam - you have your new "developer company" totally having nothing in common with your previous scam one :>

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Could do yes but I doubt they would do that. Steam doesn't do much in the way of prevention before the facts happen. Steam is much more like doing something after the facts. For example I have been 11 years on Steam and I've seen and had like hundreds of scam/phising attempts and only recently this year they added a 5 dollar spending amount to have all priviliges on a Steam account. Since they did that these scam/phising attempts have reduced a lot.
