I know most people are sick of stupid summer sale questions, but I'd like to know how it was in previous holiday sales since this is my first holiday sale. I have two questions:

  1. If a game is available as a flash sale, can it become a daily deal later or will the flash sale be the only large discount it will ever get throughout the summer sale? In my case, I want to buy the Orcs Must Die franchise pack. Currently Orcs Must Die 2 can be voted for (community choice) and in case it is in the next flash sale I think about buying it. But I'd like to have the whole franchise pack, not only OMD2 (possibly even without DLC). Is it possible that the OMD franchise pack will be 75% off later or will the flash sale be my only option for sure?

  2. If a game is not voted for in the community vote, can it show up in a daily deal or flash sale later anyway? I wanted Portal 2, but it wasn't voted for in the community vote yesterday (probably because everyone but me already has it). Is it possible that it will show up later with a 75% off discount or can I forget about it?

I hope some more experienced Steam users can help me out and tell me how it worked during previous holiday sales.

It's possible I believe, the flash and daily deals are rather small pool and often overlap...

I've seen daily deals that were also on flash sales, and I've seen non-voted games on daily deals.

I believe so. I believe it can also go the other way around as well.

I assumed if it went on sale in the community choice that put the whole franchise pack on sale!

Yes and yes. Take the Dark Souls (Flash and community sales) and Borderlands 2 (Flash and daily sales) for example.

Flash deal, community choice, and daily deal - that's the circle pretty much every game which showed in any of them will take before the end of sale, the only thing differing is order of doing that. That's the way it worked in the past since the announcement of flash and community choices for the first time.

Sounds good, thanks for the answers!

@Virtute: I hope so too, but you never know.

EDIT: Oh, and here is a Desura key for your efforts (Cognition Ep.1) 0SCKIMZF8F
