Pretty good quiz. I've gotten all of them but the music questions. I think that question 4 has an error in it though.

Answers to the questions are:

1. Pearl Jam - their album 'Ten' is a reference to the back number (10) of basketballplayer Mookie Blaylock.
2. Jim Morrison - An audio fragment of the lead singer of the Doors recently appeared, in which he stated 'Fat is beautiful'.
3. Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young - A supergroup because they were already famous before CSNY, from Buffalo Springfield etc. They sing beautiful harmonies. The hint is referring to the band playing on Woodstock. Other answer possibilities were CSN, CSNY, Crosby, Stills and/& Nash etc.
4. The Old Man and the Sea - In this famous novel by Hemingway a man faces great challenges 'battling' a huge fish far from shore on the sea. The book appeared in 1952, which is why it should've stated 50's instead of 60's. The writer, Earnest Hemingway, survived multiple plane crashes and other tragedies and ultimately committed suicide (as did many of his relatives).
5. Ten Little Niggers - A famous crime novel by Aghata Christie. The original title was banned for racism, the book now goes by the name 'And then there were none'.
6. Catch-22 - Catch-22 is a very humorous book on 'crazy' pilots flying in WWII. Catch-22 means that people who are insane can ask to stay grounded (not have to fly missions). But if they ask, they are assumed to be sane enough to fly. Just one example of the many weird regulations and humor in this book.
7. FEZ - The game that originated on Xbox Live Arcade recently came to Steam. In FEZ you play a cute white little guy, you have to rotate the levels to progress. I've just started playing it and am enjoying it so far! (Someone just mentioned a game similar to this description could be the Bridge, so I'm sorry if people got stuck on this.)
8. Super Mario 64 - In the Hazy Maze Cave you can ride 'Dorrie' who is a reference to the monster of Loch Ness.
9. Battletoads - Thus the amphibian part referring to the toad. Levels are all very different in what the toad does and which items he uses. This game was well-known for being extremely unforgiving. (TheMexicanRunner on Twitch streams it a lot if you are feeling nostalgic. :p)
