Steam recovery code?

This morning when I check my email, I received this from Steam.

"Your account recovery code is: XXXXXX".

What is this? I ask around and apparently I'm not the only one that got this. Is someone trying to steal my account? Or is it a Steam glitch or something? Do I need to contact Steam support and change my password etc?
