Looking for a cop-op horror game, that isn't really about killing, where we can scream and get freaked out etc.
Tried looking for some, but only games like Dead Island, Dying light and others are listed.

something like alien isolation but co-op?
i don't think there's a game like that yet.

They are extremely rare since it is difficult to create an atmospheric narrative aimed at fright when there is someone with you.
The only games I can recall that still fit the bill are Obscure 1-2 and Cry of Fear.

Obscure 1 works pretty well with Nvidia GameStream for online co-op. I couldn't get 2 working properly with it. Pretty good B-movie horror game.

Resident Evil 5 and 6 are great co-op horror games, though 6 isn't scary. 5 has a little bit of a scare factor, but not much.

The co-op RE games are all shooters with some horror themes. If Revelations 1 had campaign co-op, maybe it could fit, or if Outbreak would be ported to PC.

Revelations 1 has shooting/killing though, same with the Obscure games. I guess it depends how he defines "killing". For me, "killing" is like a horror game that's basically a horde mode like Left 4 Dead or Killing Floor, but if he means being in constant fear without much of an ability to defend yourself then yeah I don't know.

If he wants zero killing, I'd go with Dead by Daylight. It's scary when you're first getting into the game and no killing if you're playing as a survivor with friends. Only problem is it's not campaign/story based. An alternative option to this would be Damned, but you need a bunch of friends to play this with as I don't think there's an active community. I've put over 600 hours into DBD and it has a very active community, so that's a high recommendation from me if you don't mind it not having a campaign. Oh, and there's Friday the 13th but thats a bit pricey atm ($40, no sales).

It's hard to think of any co-op horror games that don't involve any killing whatsoever. Most of them are singleplayer, and a lot of the singleplayer games are for consoles..

Why not Revelations 2? it has a coop campaign and is not so action focused like 4, 5 and 6. It's a good Horror game imho. Though it is alsy quite a bit different from 1, 2, 3 and Revelations 1

Revelations 2 is a good choice, but I'm not sure if McNally wanted online co-op or local. If he/she wants local or if they're willing to try something like Nvidia GameStream then I definitely recommend it.

Not action focused? o.0 The campaign is as much of a straight-up modern shooter as it can get. The only parts resembling any sort of horror are the first 5 minutes and the first third of Episode 3/Claire.

Maybe we played a different game? :D But seriously, yes, it is somewhat action focused, but not nearly as much as 4, 5, and 6 are. I had the feeling that Revelations 1 did solid job at pushing the franchise more into the direction of it's roots by capturing a thick atmosphere and bringing back some of that flair, though the true survival horror was still gone. Revelations 2 could not live up to it's predecessor in these terms, but is still a solid game with more than enough horror elements to be considered a horror game by me. Not a bad one above that. Sorry, didn't want to trigger you 😅

Not really triggered,I have somewhere around 100 hours sunk into that game as well. But never, for a moment, I ever felt it to be horror. RER1's campaign was showing some old survival horror elements, especially with the ship being non-linear, but RER2 never felt anything more than any other zombie TPS.

I have to agree with Saotoshi, it's less action focused than 5 or 6. I didn't really get the modern shooter vibe that talgaby got, I put 69 hours into it.

Also, the secondary characters in the campaign are "no-kill" based if you play it in co-op, which I thought was cool but I know some people hate playing as them.

Ah, but "not so action focused like 4,5, and 6" which is super true. It feels a lot more like a direction the serious could've gone after 3 compared to the hard shift towards action (no hate, since I love nearly all RE) and pivots there from the first Revolations which is also very boom off to the next thing (and happens to be one of the bad 'uns, in my opinion anyway). while the 2nd has some genuine tension, resource scarcity, and vulnerability with Natalia and Barry's daughter limited to support without any means of attack.

Pure horror is a fine line with so many games scared to eliminate the actiony/traditional 'gamey' aspect that they believe widens audience appeal. And that's all super-dooper true when it comes to co-op, and its already intrinsically less scary since it eliminates the isolation factor.

Rev2 isn't an ideal example of the type of game being sought, though its a good step in the right direction from the Dead Islands and Dying Lights, especially for how few options there really are.

I do have a good suggestion "Damned" http://store.steampowered.com/app/251170/Damned/ I never played it myself but checked it out and came close to buying a while back, although it is full price right now and has been quite a bit cheaper in the past.

I feel like there is a similar game out there that is free to play but I forgot the name.

It's fun if you've got enough friends, but the gameplay gets stale after 10 hours or so. The gameplay as a survivor consists of finding keys and figuring out which doors they open. If you're not good at finding tiny objects this may get old and you may not have a good chance of escaping. I would still try it if you can find it cheap and have friends to play it with.

Dead by Daylight and Friday the 13th are way better games using the "escape from the killer" concept

The co-op feature in Dead By Daylight and Friday the 13th is more about u and your friend escaping then it is about killing .

I'm surprised noone has recommended Dead Space 3 yet. It's the last in one of my favorite game trilogies, Dead Space. It's only on Origin though, I subscribe to Origin Access and got it that way.

Other ones I know of is Cry of Fear and I think White Noise, that gameggorder recommended :)

OP throwing us a curve ball by saying " horror game, that isn't really about killing," made your recommendation unspoken by others .

I can assure you that the atmosphere in Dead Space 3 is truly horrific, although I can say that a fair bit of killing is involved.

Resident Evil 5, 6 and Revelations 2 campaigns can be played online or local split-screen. Resident Evil Revelations 1 and 2 for raid mode (only online).

I could suggest you F.E.A.R. 3, but's so much focused in the action. If you like that kind of games, it's a good option.

as far as online goes:
FEAR3
Unloved
The Haunted: Hells Reach
Final Exam
How to survive 2
Sniper Elite: Zombie versions
Dead Island or the superior version; Dying Light

Resident Evil Raid Modes

Couch coop ones:
