A lot of games have become free lately, so their CV disappeared. Mine has dropped from 5.91 to 5.84 in about the same time. Given the exponential nature of the site's levels, I'm guessing I lost at least as much value as you.

Unfortunately, the time-history on your stats page is retroactively updated, so you can't see when your level dropped. It looks as if it never got up to where it was.

As more games become free, your level will keep going down slowly if you don't keep posting giveaways. I don't think anything is likely to happen to make it go UP on its own. Game CV generally only goes down over time (there may be rare exceptions?)

False!

If you gave away a game before it was given away for free, you will keep the full/reduce CV. This CV will only decrease or increase if the base price of the game in Steam's store changes.

If you give away a "free game" just after a promotion starts and the game is still marked as full or reduced value here, you will lose that as soon as support sets the games status to free.

Hmm.. In that case, it must be that a bunch of games I gave away from the COVID 19 bundle were still listed as full CV when I posted them, and retroactively reduced to partial CV when SG updated to reflect the bundle. I thought I saw that they were already all showing reduced CV when I posted them, but I could've easily missed that a few of them didn't have red asterisks.

Looking at the level breakpoints, my 0.07 level drop near the $500 level is quite a bit larger than the OP's 0.34 drop near the $25 level.

It is also possible that the games changed their price on Steam.

^ This.

CV is tied to the price of the game on Steam, so if Steam reduces the list price, the CV goes down.
(Games that go "free" or "bundled" on non-Steam sites are reduced value from the date of the occurrence. Giveaways before that date are still tied to the Steam price.)

I have to admit, that I prefer it when the price goes up. Free CV :D Happened to me twice already with (I think) Shovel Knight.
Edit: 20 -> 25 -> 40, if I recall correctly.

Yep, it took a good while for SteamGifts to update the previously unbundled games featured in the Humble COVID-19 Bundle, from Full CV to Reduced CV.

Why did my level decrease?

There are two reasons why a decrease could occur.

  1. Values are calculated based on the current USD prices of games in the Steam store. If a game lowers in price, the value of previously created giveaways will adjust accordingly, and this will be reflected on profiles and levels.
  2. Certain games on our site are flagged as "No Value" or "Reduced Value". This is done manually by our volunteers, and therefore there might be a delay before these values are assigned. For example, a game might be included in a bundle on January 10, 2018. If on January 13, 2018 we flag that game as "Reduced Value", with an effective date starting January 10, 2018 (the day the bundle started), then giveaways created between January 10-13, 2018 would have their value reduced accordingly.

Among your recent giveaways, I see Anna's Quest - a Daedalic Entertainment game.

The publisher is well known for the "Daedalic bug", an oversight in the Steam Web API that, whenever a bundle is on sale for a lower price than any of the included games, causes it to report the bundle's price as if it was the game's.

Since Steam Gifts relies on the API to determine prices, the normally $20 game becomes a $130 game (due to being part of the $130 Gigantic Bundle), thus inflating your CV from $3 to $19.5 for the duration of the sale. As soon as the bundle sale is over, your CV is back to normal.

Another -albeit smaller- change that might or might not have affected you, is that Yono and the Celestial Elephants just got bundle listed.
