Just thought I'd get an input from the SG community - trying to trade for Pillars of Eternity 2 - Standard Edition, and the other user wants Destiny 2 (EU) + The Long Dark + Worms WMD; do you think that's a fair exchange?

Check prices on G2A.
Pillars of Eternity 2 - $24.
Destiny 2 - $18.
The Long Dark - $10.
Worms WMD - $11.

Only places to get Pillars of Eternity 2 are Steam and sites similar to G2A, so I'd suggest selling individual games for PayPal and then buying PoE 2 by yourself on G2A.
Certain person on ST buys G2A games for 10% off vs. PayPal, so I maybe trade with him instead after you've got your money.

Destiny 2 can currently be had as part of the monthly though, so you would have to be quite silly to actually get it on the grey market for that price.

Some people buy Destiny 2 (EU or NA) for 7 CS:GO case keys, worth $14 if used correctly.
Quite rare for HB to have battle.net game on monthly, so people try their best to get as many copies as possible for future trades.

G2A prices are overpriced IMO, but good for comparing game prices (since all games are overpriced :D). Plus one of the few places to get PoE2, so it's useful in that case. 10% off on G2A is also good offer

The point is: it's that expensive on key sites, though it's in the current Monthly. Usually those games are offered lower for at least the time the bundle is available. In this case the grey market price might raise even more after the bundle becomes unavailable.

Stockpile like on Mafia 1 keys!!

And then Mafia is released again on Steam, so traders cry

Well, removed games are another story. I haven't stockpiled yet, since my main interest is getting games, not earning money by trading, got a job for that. But since I don't know yet, if I use my Destiny 2 key for myself (haven't played the first part yet), I put it on my tradables and check offers for it. Though usually the offers for AAAs are of the same "quality" as OP's received offer.

Edit: Misread stuff.

If you want to quick trade, Destiny 2 is around $12, Long Dark $5-6 and Worms WMD is maybe $6-7. I think it's balanced to trade all 3 for Pillars 2 considering Pillars 2 is unbundled new game while those 3 are (not to mention you can still easily buy Destiny 2 along with other games for $12 still)

Nobody is going to buy those games at G2A prices here. So unless you are willing to use G2A or other websites that you used to compare games on to sell your stuff, don't expect to get the same. You know how much you spent on those bundled games, and you know how much that new game is worth. It is up to you what you do with this information.

You've convinced me I'd never make a good trader. Attitude alone would be enough to try my patience.
I guess I'll have to go to work this week.

I had no idea someone could make that much profit by trading games, though. That's pretty astounding ...

Sell Destiny 2 EU on Kinguin for 21 euro- you get 18 euro.
Pillars 2 is 22 euro on Kinguin so you will have to sell some other game as well.
G2A is not worth using if you are planning on selling only a couple of games. Their verification system will cost you a couple of days just to get your account running.

Never sold anything on there or G2A, is it relatively easy/safe/quick?

Both take 2 weeks for your money to be available. If you want the game now just trade for it. If you don't mind waiting, use Kinguin cause it's more noob-friendly.
Out of personal experience I can say that Destiny 2 EU sell for a couple of hours on Kinguin.

Pillars of Eternity 2.

I would throw all that shit for PoE 2 tbh, as I wouldn't play two of them, and would want PoE 2 more, than Destiny 2.
Like relevant: on Barter I accepted a trade of Braid for my Dead Rising 4 - considering I want Braid, and Braid is good, and I'm not interested in DR4 AND it's not even a well-made game, I don't give a damn about store prices and stuff. Just a quick checking that Braid was around 4-5€ on sales, I got DR4 in a bundle for it's share of ~ 3$, it's cool. They may re-trade it for more with someone, but that is their business :P

Haha I'd do the same tbh. PoE 2 is way better than all those 3 combined in my own opinion. Sadly if I was the one to possess those 3 copies it wouldn't be enough for PoE 2 considering my games would be region locked. Because hey why not screw over people even though they paid the same (in terms of dollar, even though a dollar in my country is worth way more than the same dollar in the US) because they so happen to live in countries not getting RoW copies, amirite :'(

Deadfire is about 30 EUR, but a lot of backers are selling their multipacks for around 20 on grey and black market sites.
The games he is asking for are Humble Monthly bundle games, albeit ones that sell nicely on the grey market, because there are still plenty of idiots in the world to buy there.
He is asking for a hefty markup, but to be frank, his profit margin is nowhere near some real-world levels. coughApplecough

As others have said, unless you are interested in becoming a grey market seller, it is a fair trade. G2A/Kinguin prices should not be used as a basis of a trade unless you actively sell on those sites, and it is a for-profit trade on your end. No trader will pay those prices since they know how to get them cheaper to sell on those platforms in the first place.

They are a bit on the advantegous side for him, yes, but he is still offering games that were never bundled and reached the 5-7 Euro range at best, for HB monthly games that are usually worth 0.5-3 dollars in deals, even if it is a Rise of a Tomb Raider caliber 60-dollar game. Bundles devalue games in trades A LOT.

In general when you ask for unbundled games, you should be ready to give many bundled ones, they have much lower value. His offers aren't ridiculous, it seems like this because stuff like life is Strange, outlast 2, dead rising 4, sleeping dogs definitive edition etc have a market value of around $2-$4. I was very frustrated when I found out that steamtrades works like this and that my bundled games have so low value. But I accepted it and play by the rules of the game.

It's funny but I have bookmarked your trade thread for a possible trade.

The reason for this is that you are not trading to the end consumer. Those who command the market price on most trading sites are vendors building stock to sell on third party sites.

Think of it less as buying/selling at a shop and more of a farmer selling their crop. While both the end consumer and the farmer could make/save more by cutting out the grocery store, few can be bothered to make the drive for a few apples.

I looked at your offers above and I dont find them that wrong / unfair
Trading is such an Supply and demand thing. Most of your games are in abundance
if there were not that many resellers, they wouldnt be worth anything (at least not as much as they are now)
because only these keep the price up
Did you also look at what was offered to you a CDKey/Giftlink or a Steamgift ? For example the Fallout3 deal
looks very unfair at first but if it's a gift, everything has changed completely

I'll never understand why people are still trying to swap games for games
Seems like the early Middle Ages it was not without reason that currencies were introduced

Sell your Stuff for the current trading currencies and buy what you want from it
Instead of trying to buy a chicken with carrots^^

Mostly a hassle thing. Not everyone has paypal or easy access to keys + selling on the grey market can be a pain unless you are already establish. If you are a casual trader getting rid of bundle spares or mostly deal with low value games (e.g. IG/Groupees bundle games), then the work is not worth it.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Sure, it can be a waste of time for a casual trader. But especially with low-priced games, everyone should realize very quickly
that he/she probably will not find any who wants to have these games, or can not expect anything great for it. there you should take what comes and make no big claims. If you do not really want to deal "with trade as a whole" but still want to participate.

I see that again and again when people stick to their own weird rule and wonder then that they get nothing.... especially, this game for game traders. Some have only 3-4 cool games for months or even years and only want special games for it,which nobody actually has or no one would swap. And someday there will be someone who doesnt offer a game from his/her wishlist but something else but totally fair but they reject the offer anyway....and that's just stupid

But yes I understand that many dont have or want Paypal or do not want to use Greymarket sites.
There are enough other possibilities. I know enough who buy their TF2/CSGO keys with Steamwallet. Maybe not the best option but if you have no other choice. Roughly, it's just because people are lazy and dont want to deal with the topic but still have requirements which they cant afford

It does not matter how the offer applies^^ it comes out the same

I totally understand that. I didnt have PP in the past and didnt want it either ...so for me, the Humble Bundle's were impossible to get
But then you have to accept what is offered to you, the number of people is much smaller as if you have currencies or take them
and I just do not understand why some limit themselves. And that does not even have to do anything with profit.
