Got one for 90% off, but the Steam store has a week long sale on it at 65% off. I want to use my coupon, damn it. Wanted another game for a group giveaway before the rest I have running end.

Bah, humbug.

If I remember correctly, Steam has a forum where you can post suggestions. Anyone want to give me a link, so I can rant and be ignored by the powers that be.

Yeah, same with the 80% off that I get for Deus Ex HR, I wanted to buy it, but it was in a sale for 33% off at the time...

Hmm. That's pretty strange.

They simply set the rule if it can or not and in most cases it doesn't. But there are some case where you actually can mix-n-match a coupon over an existing discount. A while ago I purchased a game that was 50% off using a 50% off coupon so I ended up with a 75% off discount, but that would be kinda ridiculous if a 90% off coupon would apply over an 65% discount.

I'm not expecting that. I want an override, not both together. I should be able to get the game for $2, but the current sale means I can't get it for less than $7.

I get your point.. and I think you're right. If they don't overlap the Steam store should automatically offer you the biggest discount, or at least offer you the choice, instead of forcing you to the daily/midweek or weekend deal. Would suck for someone to have a coupon expire while there's a lesser deal going on.

There was a glitch a while ago where a certain game went 1% off, and someone had a coupon but couldn't use it.
