The Cake Factory is open! Come join the tour!

I didn't play through the first game until very recently, and finished it on mobile. While the first was a good classic adventure, the second game didn't hold my attention enough to have yet finished it. I've also played the third game in the series, back when it first came out. Unfortunately, I wasn't very impressed with it, and it seems Steam reviewers may generally agree, giving it a Mixed rating. (I haven't played the fourth or fifth installments at all yet.)

I've only played 1 & 5 this far and vastly preferred the style of 1. However, I've enjoyed the story & gameplay of 5 as well. Yet to finish it so we'll see how it goes.
Thanks for the GA, I've been trying to complete the set for a while now. ^^
if you'd prefer this goes to someone who doesn't own any of the games, please re-roll in case I win. Sorry for the inconvenience.

They've been bundled often enough that I'm perfectly fine with someone already owning one, or even two of the games already. Thank you very much for checking on that though! :) Best of luck with completing the set!

I also greatly preferred the 1st game to the 2nd.

I think the 1st had a great mix of humour, mystery, and adventure, and I really enjoyed the deciphering puzzles towards the beginning. It held my interest throughout, and had good pacing from start to finish.

The 2nd wasn't as funny, didn't seem as coherent, didn't have as good pacing, and didn't grip me nearly as much. The middle portion, in particular, really slowed down to the point of dragging. I got through it, but it dampened my enthusiasm for the rest of the series (and the crude 3D graphics of 3 and 4 really discouraged me from trying them).

Yeah, that seems to be the general consensus of the sequels. I'm terrified that my own Cake Factory adventure is going to drag quite a bit at the beginning, but hopefully once people get past that it'll be more enjoyable. The middle section should be fun (still writing it), and I personally love the final "act", but I'm biased. :) I was too far into making it to scrap that first area, so in my head I just think of it as a large speedbump that will give better winning odds to those who take the time to pass it.

The first Broken Sword holds and special place on my heart and it is easily my favourite retro point and click adventure, the second wasn't as good, true, but in my childhood I was just glad to be back in action with George and Nico, same with the third, never played the fourth tho and I don't have any intention of doing so because everyone agrees that it's shit, but i just started playing the fifth entry, and the nostalgia is overwhelming me. I hope it remains as entertaining and that my nostalgia colored glasses aren't playing any trick on me.

I've been trying to get the original trilogy to replay it since my old CD-Roms are god knows where, but if you have any problem with that just tell me and I'll remove my entry.

No problem there at all! There are many games that I have on both CD (or floppy) and Steam, and part of the value for getting it again on Steam or any other digital service is simply the convenience of having everything in one easily accessible spot and not having to go digging around for it again and hoping both the old version and whatever media format it's stored on still works. :)

Good to hear that the 5th installment is thus far living up to the spirit of the first game! Something for me to look forward to!
