Lyon to Grand Colombier

Stage 15 - Sunday, 13 September - 175 km (109 mi)

< Stage 14 - Home - Rest Day 2 >

The Stage

A fireworks finish; climbing the Grand Colombier from three sides after having gone up and down two 1st category mountains. A few weeks ago in the Tour de l'Ain Team Jumbo-Visma dominated Team Ineos here. I'm sure they'll want a repeat but their opponents have been warned now. Thibaut Pinot has always been good here so keep an eye out for him. If any of the hopefuls is far behind in the GC, expect a desperate attempt from them here.

Winner: Tadej Pogačar

Tour Touristique

Grand Colombier
The highest summit in Bugey (1,531 m) located south of the Jura mountain range, the Grand Colombier massif offers numerous hiking trails, mountain biking circuits and a panoramic view of the Alps, Mont Blanc, Lake Bourget, Rhône and Bugey. It is possible to cross the massif by car, following the D120, from Culoz (the climb is particularly spectacular), Anglefort, Virieu-le-Petit or Lochieu.

Bernal's attack yesterday shows that he isn't out for the count yet; I'll predict him here.

Darn, I wanted to keep Pogačar as an option for next week but I should have gone with my gut feeling.
