The international Jazz in Marciac festival, which takes place from late July to early August since 1978, welcomes more than 200,000 visitors each year. The biggest names in jazz have played in Marciac for the last 40 years: Art Blakey, Dizzy Gillespie, Stan Getz, Ray Charles, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, to name a few. But the patron of the festival for nearly thirty years is trumpet player Wynton Marsalis, who even has his statue on a square in the city.
