That's really stupid of them. That attitude is one of the major reasons why I want to see Steam replaced by a better competitor. The sooner the better.
Edit: I assume you can make a new account and use that one to post, and the old one to play games? Maybe have a browser logged into the new one while the Steam program is logged into the old one.
All the newly created Steam accounts require a$ 5 for activation. And this same lock also covers the forums. But to pay$ 5 just to write something on the forum not very attractive)
