I was one of the lucky ones who had a good job in 1994, pretty much the height of that particualr recession in the UK, when there was a lot of property being sold off relatively cheaply - and property was a lot cheaper then. I saw the house I bought then for sale a few years ago and ironically I couldn't have afforded it ..
