I'm looking to watch Trigun and Cowboy Bebop sometime, but so far I haven't been good with the classics :( NGE bored me despite its good reputation.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is my single top series. It's great, beginning to end, no filler.
Monster is a really good psychological thriller. A serial killer, a doctor trying to clear his name, and the past coming back to haunt them.
There are also two classics, if you've never seen them. Trigun, Cowboy Bebop. Watch these now if you haven't.
Finally, another contender for my personal favourite is Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Watch the first three episodes. It is not what you expect. It is much, much better.
yesss FMA is so good. But not my top haha. Monster sounds good too, especially since the next season is premiering it again iirc. Alright I'll check out Trigun and Bebop ASAP since that's two recommendations, Heh I could say the same about Gakkou Gurashi wrt Madoka.
Hahah, the same friend who showed me Madoka also showed me Gakkou Gurashi. I knew there had to be a twist after my experience with Madoka and my friend, but it was not the twist I was expecting!
We might not have the same tastes, but if you search for "lolzbela" on myanimelist and anything I gave 9 or 10 I can recommend. Do note that I'm pretty lenient with scoring anime, so there's a lot of (too) high scores on my list.

I second the Berserk and the OVA isn't too bad overall either. (highly recommend the series, and the manga is still ongoing iirc)
Also another few are Trigun, Cowboy Bebop and Full Metal Alchemist.
Attack on Titan is reputed to be good (haven't started in on it myself).
