Description

I hereby declare October to be D&D month.
As for the final piece of exhibition, I am presenting a game that is constantly getting near the top of every lists dealing with classic cRPGs. It has a significant nostalgic value of being that one game almost none of us ever actually finished.

The reason? It is utterly incompatible with pretty much every single segment of the current gaming demographic beyond visual novel enthusiasts. There is more mandatory text to read in its first segment, the tutorial building/mortuary than in the last six CoD+Battlefield games combined (with all subtitles on). No, this is not an exaggeration.

Still, playing on the almost only theoretical chance that the winner will not be a stupid little kid who cannot play a video game if it forces them to read for more than seven attoseconds, I present you an epic tale across the higher planes of the classic D&D multiscape, a tale about the nature of one's being, a tale that has enough ideas in it for a struggling fantasy writer to plagiarise for entire novel cycles.

Also after leaving Sigil the quality severly decreases. And when I played it back in the past it would crash if ANYONE used spells, along with graphical corruption with many effects. Made some battles harder than need to be. Hopefully the EE wont suffer from any of those issues.

They ported it to their modified version of the already stabilised BG2 engine.
This one is probably the only one of the Enhanced Editions I would say is better to play, mostly because P:T never really had the mod richness of the Baldur's Gate series.

Did use the unofficial patch (after noticing I could get kissed twice for permanent HP each time). I assume those fixes would be in the official version now.
But yeah, aside that I don't recall any noteworthy ones.

This is the one cRPG from my childhood that I never played. I'm still saddened I never noticed it. Hopefully one day... :) Thanks for the chance!

OMG you give some of the most desired games of mine. These isometric RPGs are just SO good. I'm so glad you give me a chance to have them. Many many thanks!

It was one of my favorite game when it came out, along with the original Fallout games and Sanitarium. I've been meaning to play Tides of Numenera but always felt like I wanted to replay this one before, so thanks for the chance.

This is one of the best RPGs of all time (I'd put only the two legitimate Fallout games a bit above it). I'd love a chance to play the enhanced edition!

You mean three legitimate Fallout games. :P

New Vegas was close, in that it more closely matched the thematic feel of the original two, but it's still too much of a first person shooter game to count as a "real" Fallout game for me.

And the "Tactics" Brotherhood of Steel game is best forgotten, even if it's marginally better than the console game with a similar name.

Unless you mean Van Buren as the third legitimate Fallout game... but since we only saw a brief playable demo, that doesn't count either.

I mean FONV; it was developed by most of the original team, after all. ^_^

Oh, it is a lot simpler: the vast majority of both of their player bases is female. It is simply packaging for the same demographic.

When someone tales me that playing games isn't for people of my age, this game comes to mind every time. Pure art, thanks for the chance!
I remember how mindblown I was when TNO finally found the witch and when he found who The Transcendent one is.
