Are you already in Christmas mood? If not perhaps this ITH about Christmas around the world (sorry flat earthers 😅) can give a little help. :)
While making this ITH I found a lot of interesting customs and I would really like to hear some more of yours 😃
🎅👉 Please bump this thread 👈🎅
Q2: Use zeros not O's :)
Q7: Blame sites like the British telegraph for misspelling Portuguese words ;) added the right word too.
Added another answer to Q8 to make it easier ;)
In case you used this version already the other answer is in a specific state
In case you still have problems with Q8 I'll add the plural form after work. Added it =)
The ITH GAs run for one week so you have plenty of time. :)

❆✭✩ Many Thanks for the nice game, Moony & for reminding me that I bought it some months ago and need to play it! 😏 ✩✭❆

Damn :D
I stuck at the last one...
Comment has been collapsed.
Me too, I was sure I had the answer :x...
Comment has been collapsed.
Me too. Every source i found says the same, but the answer is wrong.
Comment has been collapsed.
Same. Google is failing me.
Comment has been collapsed.
Hey did you get it by now? I added the one word version both singular and plural :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Wenn ich das richtige sehe, können wir uns auf Deutsch schreiben. ;)
Habs grad nochmal probiert. Jetzt geht's. Danke Moony!
Habe zwar immer noch keine Ahnung was vorher die richtige Antwort sein sollte, aber egal. :)
Und wieso eigentlich Plural als Option? Der ganze Sinn an der Tradition ist doch, dass es nur eine ... ist oder wie?
Comment has been collapsed.
Comment has been collapsed.
Echt?
Danke nochmal.

+1 I've been searching for half an hour now :/
also tried adding other words to it
Comment has been collapsed.
I guess I wait for a hint 😁
Comment has been collapsed.
Same here - tried as many different combinations as I could think. Even tried it in swedish (which is actually a bit funny)!
Comment has been collapsed.
Finally got it. Interestingly specific.
Comment has been collapsed.
I suspect the answer has to be worded in a very specific way, but I haven't been able to crack it yet. We also have the same tradition in Denmark, so I am certain of the correct answer. Can't believe the easiest question for me is the hardest one. 😭
Comment has been collapsed.
me too and I'm damn sure of the answer so maybe there's a typo somewhere?
Comment has been collapsed.
Strange, I can't seem to get the last one.
Nvm, got it.
Thanks for the giveaways!
Comment has been collapsed.
I know the last answer but I have no idea why it's not taking it.
Comment has been collapsed.
Same here.
Comment has been collapsed.
Works now for me.
Comment has been collapsed.
Same :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah gotta be a bit more specific on the last one, which most websites you can google are not.
edit) hehe only 3 solvers so far, I feel special :D
Comment has been collapsed.
Wow, yeah, you must be weirdly specific.
Comment has been collapsed.
lol, yeah. :D
Comment has been collapsed.
I googled the answer for Q2 but it doesn't work? Is there some trick? EDIT: got it, now to the last question.
Comment has been collapsed.
same, tried all combinations and no match(
do we need to put any quotes in there?
Comment has been collapsed.
Thanks for Deus Ex and additional ga behind ITH. Sadly, nothing for me there, but I learned something.

Got the last one after a lot of time searching.
Also Καλα Χριστουγεννα

Thanks a bunch!

Wow! Holy Xmas present! Thanks!!

Can't find the answer for the last question! It's driving me crazy D:
Edit: OMG I FINALLY GUESSED IT. Thank you so much for this fun quiz and the GA!
Comment has been collapsed.
Last question killed me. I tried every combination/variant to it and am still unsuccessful.
RIP LemonDrops.

Q8 was oddly specific as to the state of the item in question. So you're looking for "adjective noun".
Comment has been collapsed.
In Denmark we burn our curtains on Christmas Eve as a gesture for the Norse Goddess of love, Freya. Nothing is more welcoming than a house without drawn curtains, which is why it is also in bad taste to gift them as a Christmas present.
Comment has been collapsed.
I hope you remove them from the windows before burning them 😅 I like it when old traditions and christmas are combined to unique customs 👍
Did you get the answer to Q8 by now? I added the one word version in singular and plural as possible answers 🙂
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, of course, wouldn't want to burn down the rest of the house with them, haha.
I got Q8 now, but I'm still really curious as to what the original correct answer was. Thanks for the awesome gibs btw, and have a great Christmas. :)
Comment has been collapsed.
I can't for the life of me figure out the correct form of the address on the quiz.
EDIT: Nevermind, one of the 1000 different ways to write it finally worked.
But it won't accept the last correct answer, and I know for a fact it's right so I have no idea what the deal is.

Comment has been collapsed.
Tnx but he already added the non specific version. I actually had thought about that and tried some but I just couldn't randomly get the right adjective. I wonder what it was :).
Comment has been collapsed.
Ah, that makes it much easier. It was originally "peeled". Not whole, as I had thought, but peeled.
Comment has been collapsed.
Wow that's super specific and didn't find that mentioned anywhere and I checked a lot because I was questioning myself.
Comment has been collapsed.
Haha got it! Nice one! And the first one really cracked me up! The thing people come up with lol
In France, there are a lot of different traditions that vary from region to region I guess. While Alsace celebrates from Saint Nicolas on December 6th with various little cookies and mulled white wine, other regions completely bypass Saint Nicolas. In Brittany, a lot of traditions come from Celtic rituals around the Winter Solstice, mixed in with Christian beliefs and traditions. In Provence, festivities start on December 4th when people plant wheat in little bowls in their homes for prosperity in the new year. They also eat 13 desserts (that's probably why they only eat fish and vegetables with aioli before lol) after midnight on the 25th of December, each sweet representing various aspects of the nativity

"In Portugal families set extra places at the dining table on Christmas morning for deceased relatives which is said to bring luck to the family"
I've never heard of that happening here, but the term you're asking for is actually "consoada", not "consoda", and it's merely the name of the dinner during Christmas eve.
Comment has been collapsed.
Thanks for your feedback :) I added the correct spelling as an alternative answer. :)
I found several websites mentioning it so either it is a custom in another part of Portugal or it is a myth like Q1 ;)
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, I found those sites too! Really weird to me.
Comment has been collapsed.
:D The first question~ Was this serious? Did someone actually believ this?
And the last one was surprisingly hard :3
Thank you very much for the GA and the ITH ^^
Comment has been collapsed.
Maybe it's an alternative fact? xD

Merry Christmas! Thanks for Deus Ex and the ITH.
This is a good chance for that I learned something.

✭ I was lucky with the last one. The 7. took me way longer ;P

Thanks :) Merry Christmas!

Thanks for the giveaways, In the future It would be nice if you mentioned the level of the quiz giveaways though unfortunantly I wasn't able to enter them :( .
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm sorry for that but the GAs run one week so you could reach lvl 2 till then =)
Comment has been collapsed.
Wait what level do we have to be? It was cool to learn some new stuff about christmas, but I guess it's better if you specify the level requirement :) (also stuck at q2, tried all combinations but nope)
Merry Christmas.

For anyone who has troubles with Q8 - It's not in Swedish. It threw me off a bit since so many of the previous answers were in the native language and I'm from Sweden. :D
Thanks for the puzzle and the great giveaways!
Comment has been collapsed.
Mhh didn't think of that ;) funnily it's the same word as in German :D
I would like to hear if you know this custom and if you eat this pudding on Christmas? :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Well I know about the custom, although the marriage thing is not something most people care about these days, it's just a fun thing to see who finds it!
Also while I know the English name for it is pudding, in Swedish we actually call it the translation of porridge. Porridge in general is common breakfast food here (or at least was, now perhaps most in rural areas), especially oat porridge. I eat rice porridge on occasion through the year - you can buy it ready to heat/eat in a plastic sausage in the store. However for Christmas my girlfriend makes the real deal with some cinnamon bark in, served hot with milk, cinnamon sprinkled over, and some sugar perhaps. We don't tend to include the secret ingredient though. ;)
The biggest custom here in Sweden though is to watch "Kalle Anka" that has aired since forever. If you happen to take a walk at three p.m. you'll hear the theme song from every house on the street.
More interesting historically is that The Yule Goat was the original bringer of gifts around here! Now we just make effigies to him and set them on fire... I mean, it's a tradition? Sort of?
