Description

This is no requirement, but if you could spare a minute or two of your time, please read on.

I have recently started up a Youtube channel. It's just a hobby for now, and not meant to be any source of income yet. So far, besides my loyal wife, only about a dozen of people have had the horrible idea of subscribing to me. If you feel like you could spare a couple of minutes, I'd highly appreciate you checking out the channel, and subscribing if you like the content, and feel like making the same mistake.

Short info about my channel: I'll be playing various short to mid length games, in what I hope to be a chilled and relaxed atmosphere. The channel will mostly include games that tick either one or more of the following genres: Adventure, puzzle, strategy, city management, survival, post-apocalyptic or story rich games. I'm not a math wizard or meta grinder. I'm just a casual human who'll be making mistakes left, right and center. I'm sure you'll find plenty of cringe worthy moments, where the solution is obvious. Also note that english is not my native language, and if you do watch my videos, I think that's fairly obvious.

So far I have completed 4 series. Ori & the Blind Forest (Sequel planned in the near future), Little Nightmares, The Last Spell, and Frostpunk. Currently I'm recording Into the Breach. I'm still trying to find a format that works best for me, and originally the plan was 2 videos a day. However, since I also have a job, I quickly found this to be too much. So for now, the goal is 1 video a day, which should be much more manageable. I'm also recording Tropico 6, which will be my next series after Into the Breach is finished. Games I'd like to play in the future could be: Ori & the Will of the Wisps, Banner Saga 1 (Possibly 2 & 3 as well), Stasis, Deadlight, Risk of Rain.

I want to emphasize that subscribing to my channel is NOT a requirement to enter the giveaway.

If you've read this far, thank you for your time. If my channel is not for you, then no hard feelings. And do not feel compelled to subscribe just for the +1. I highly prefer that my numbers reflect interested people :)

With that being said, good luck with the giveaway, and stay safe out there! :)

I don't have/use an account on youtube since google got them, but I still wish you the best of luck with your endeavours. Be sure not to burn out so you can keep your hobby enjoyable for a long time to come :)

Thanks for the comment! I came to the same conclusion. No reason burning yourself out over something that's supposed to be a hobby and fun. I definitely already feel like a weight has been lifted, and that was exactly the point! :) If you ever do find yourself with a YouTube account again, you know where to find me :)

I might still get you some views if you keep making GAs and posting links, haha. Casually playing games, that's something we can all get behind :D I've had half a mind to do something similar but I just never had the proper hardware for any of it, playing games on my local potato. And the 'rona made it hard to actually try and assemble a proper PC what with parts shortage here and there (someone else is doing it for me as I am pretty clueless XD).

But yeah, I live my gaming self vicariously through other people playing XD

I'll keep making GA's for as long as I have games to give away! :D But since I'm just an ordinary Joe, trying to support both me and my wife on my own income, it's unfortunately not going to be expensive AAA giveaways.

I have been contemplating for quite a while myself about making a YouTube channel. I thought I enjoy gaming, might as well share it with others, if people find it interesting to watch/listen. As I'm very introvert, it was extremely difficult for me to get started on my first video. I think I sat there staring at the screen for a good 30 minutes before even attempting to say "Hello" into the mic haha. Pure fear.
I don't know what kind of PC you have, but mine is by no means any beast. If you check out my Frostpunk videos I think you'll also see that it's stuttering here and there. Because I am as you said, in the same boat as everyone else trying to get new hardware. I did manage to get myself one of the newer CPU's, which is what's enabled me to record, as my videocard is still an old GTX 970.

But honestly, I quite enjoy recording. So I can only encourage you to try it out some day yourself, to see if it's something you'd enjoy. It actually also helps me play games I might not get around to playing, and sometimes help me play it longer then I normally would, if I have a series going. It's also a nice challenge to have to think out loud. Sometimes you see new things in games, new solutions, simply by saying your thoughts out loud :)

I mean my GAs are generally bundle leftovers, but there's no shame in that! You're still giving something away for free, rather than using the grey market to sell the keys, so that is commendable.

I also consider myself an introvert. People drain my battery pretty quick, I'm just good at hiding it I guess. Public speaking or debating isn't an issue, but being social is XD

My 'PC' currently consists of a macbook pro from 2014 (handmedown from my dad after my laptop busted) and it currently can't even handle the steam client, lmao. Hence I haven't been playing any PC games since December of last year. Not that that stopped me from buying bundles while holding out for a proper gaming PC all year. Alas, 2021 is not kind in that regard, lol. Before my laptop died I even got myself a capture card to record some switch footage, so I was quite serious about recording my games. Partially for myself, but who knows, right? Even just uploading the footage as a test woulda done. Was still fiddling with it all, since the screenplay on the laptop appeared laggy so I had no idea if it recorded proper as I was playing and just sucked at airing it back at me, or if the recording was trash. Anyways... one day, lol.

I can certainly understand that having an older Macbook could present some issues with recording videos. I'm not an expert on gaming laptops, but I'd imagine you'd need quite the beast there to be able to play and record at the same time. I'd think it'd be easier to get that sort of power in a regular PC. But yeah, it's certainly not cheap. And with todays chip shortage, that presents another problem. Do you build your own, get more power for less cash, but then paying a premium for a videocard from some scalper, or do you pay extra and get a prebuilt PC?

A capture card is by the way also something I've thought about, since there's plenty of games on consoles that'd be great to play as well, and I feel like it'd take away some of the stress from my PC as well. Ah well, maybe one day we'll both get around to it :D

No, the macbook was just my replacement, the one I tried to record on was a Lenovo, haha. I forget which one. I played on my switch so I had the switch stream directly on the laptop but alas XD I'm not building my own, but one of our clients works in IT and in turn knows someone who builds them, so rather than him paying us in money he pays by building a PC, more or less. Provided it works out or the deal is off and back to square one for me.

Let's hope it works out then :) I always preferred to have self-build PC's. You just get more bang for your buck.

I usually never had the funds nor time to really get into it. I guess I'm a late bloomer in that regard. Here's hoping my parts get collected together already. It's been a year ;w;

That's a long time waiting for new parts. But I suppose my wife waited for longer then that due to money issues as well. And these days I'm just hoping we'll be able to afford a video card before Nvidias 50 or 60 series comes out haha

It used to be the money, now it's the virus. Or so it is claimed, but artificial shortage is a thing too. So who really knows, haha.

Thanks for an awesome GA!

I already checked out your channel before I even got to the part where you said "And do not feel compelled to subscribe just for the +1. I highly prefer that my numbers reflect interested people :)", even though I don't watch other people play games. Therefore, take my sub either way, as I am a simple man - I see a link to a YT channel, I click subscribe. :P So, take it - one introvert and a YouTuber (although I've given up) to another. You can always imagine you have one less sub xD

As far as the channel goes - good pronunciation, despite what you think. :) And you have a nice, deep, soothing voice. Put that to good use.

Best of luck!

Thanks for the support, I appreciate it! Yeah, I realize my text is a bit long, and people might just read "YouTube, okay, let's check it out". And I mean, I don't consider myself delusional, I realize some people will subscribe just to help me out, without actually watching, and that's honestly fair enough. Subscriptions and views all help boost the chances of my videos showing up in searches. Who knows, maybe you'll find something interesting down the line :) I only mentioned it because I really wanted to get across to people that it is by no means a requirement, and they shouldn't feel compelled to sub, even if they win. In either case, thanks again for the support and the feedback! :)
