It's these "small things" that bring light into our lives and make us appreciate our fellow human beings, no matter where they are from, what they like to eat and what color their pizza is.

I can't think of anything in particular.
No, there was one thing.
Recently, I had an unusual CPU and GPU load for a game that had just been released on Steam, and I identified the cause as the upper limit of the FPS value and reported it to the company to have it fixed.
I follow up on trivial things in a haphazard manner, so I can't observe everything that is going on, although in reality there are probably many things going on.
Or a momentary engagement with a stranger you meet on the street.
It is a once-in-a-lifetime event.
Hopefully we can spend our days doing good things for others.

Actually not even a week ago - went to on a vacation to Tenerife with my girlfriend for a week. Had a flight through London UK coming back home. With snow, lack of workers and everything else flight got cancelled. All in all it was a horrible shitshow for anyone flying the specific company. It was either wait 3-4 days in the airport for the next flight or deal with support from India over paid calls.
Spent around 6 hours dealing with this and helping out several couples in their 50s who didn't speak English trying to set them up with a flight going to neighboring country. To some extent we of course knew that without our help they would probably be left without a flight (or hotel most likely) as the airport was atrocious. There was 0 support on ground and the airport was dirty and filled with people sleeping on ground. But it didn't really register with me that the fact they got home was our effort over half a day to get everyone tickets. Next day we met them in the airport for the new flight and of course they where beaming with joy. Really was happy about that.
But this wasn't even the most joy that this little misfortune of ours brought enormous happiness to someone else. Some half an hour drive away from the airport lives cousin of my girlfriends. We decided to spend the day with him, go to a pub, have a beer and spend the night at his place. He is straight out of school and just started working in UK. It is a prestigious company with good pay and goof future. BUT he has almost no friends and no family there. Back home he has enormous family with traditions, events etc and good friends. So for us it was a question of convenience - don't need to be dealing with getting back money for hotel or spend a night in airport + we get to meet the guy. Only afterwards we realized how happy he was that someone managed to visit him and had a night out with him. We both love cars and gaming - even though had to wake up at 4 AM, we drank beer and talked until 1AM.
So in the end of course we where bummed out our flight got cancelled. We where 100 EUR out and a day lost. But in the end it went better then expected and managed to make a day for someone who has been feeling lonely and missing his family.

I... yesterday, actually. Christmas party game at church and i picked someone because while i know him, he was not a regular attender, and I wanted to make him feel welcome. Well, it turned out (as i learned afterwards), he'd been bullied and picked on his whole life, never was picked for anything when he was in school etc, and couldn't believe his ears when i called his name. He had a great time, and later called up the house to let me know i'd made his day and week and maybe month.

School can be a nghtmare for some kids who are being ostracized most often for no reason at all other than being the kid everyone picks on.
And you may not have known that but instinctively you picked the "unpopular kid" because you wanted him to feel welcome, that's the difference between you and these bullies. You wanted to make a stranger feel welcome.
Good deeds come from good hearts.

I used to volunteer in a community center around 2005.
One of the activities was a sort of baking/cooking workshop with kids who were baking cookies and cakes and sharing them with the seniors at the center. It gave the kids something fun to do and it brought a lot of joy to some of these older folks who didn't have any family nearby and who loved having kids around.
There was an older gentleman there who loved to tell stories to the kids while everyone was having cookies. He was a great storyteller and I ended up filming him a few times for some promo the community center wanted to run to encourage parents to bring their kids.
Like everything else, it kinda slipped my mind until this month when I ran into someone who used to visit the center at that time.
We exchanged some good memories we had and I mentioned that guy and told her I had filmed him several times.
She got very emotional. It turns out that lovely man, who passed away about 10 years ago, was her grandfather and she had no recording of him at all. I found and sent her the video and made her very happy for Christmas.
Now she'll have her grandfather telling stories to her own kids he never got to meet.
My grandfather was a storyteller and I miss his voice every day. I wish someone had filmed or recorded him so I was very glad I got to give that person her memories back.
