Description

This is from the pyramid event 6 months ago, it's linked so you can refreshen yourself a bit on the story leading up to PA10.

When Cathy grabs the amulet the symbols lights up one by one and as the final symbol turns on it's as if the air bends in on itself and both Katie and Nordh materializes in an embrace in front of you. They both look as shocked as you, and Cathy exclaims "Katie, I was just thinking of you and how you would have loved to see this!"

Nordh explains how he had seen some shimmer happening around Katie and rushed in to protect her, and the next second they were just standing here.

"It must be some sort of teleportation amulet!", you say. And before you can think of anything else the amulet starts glowing again and the shimmer surrounds both Cathy and Katie.

You get pushed hard from behind and into the ladies. Just as you're wisped away you can hear Nordh saying "Please, forgive me."

You, Katie and Cathy are standing in the middle of an apartment. "Mom, I just wanted to be home with you", Katie says with tears in her eyes and hugs her mom. You're left bewildered, not sure what just happened, but you have a feeling Nordh had plans for this.

To follow Nordh's tale and reach the end, solve the final puzzle with your 29 puzzle pieces

I've positioned the codes where they need to be. When i repainted the board using these pieces i received an image which looks like completely nothing i knew. I also tried like 5 or so different "repaintings" just in case.
Then today i found something that looks very similar to the created image... but unfortunately it's not it.

I'm starting to get frustrated more and more with every next person solving the puzzle (frustrated at myself, not at them - i admire them)

ALL HINTS IN ONE MESSAGE
Maybe this will help, as his way of splitting up hints is a bit bothersome.
It certainly helped me.

1) 1 character in the 4 character codes is not even needed. However, it does give you a hint on where to put the codes.
2) Once all 29 codes have been positioned, carefully examine their placement. Where they are is just as important as where they aren't.
3) 29 pieces to repaint the board, what cubism art will be revealed?
4) Once hint 3 has been taken care of, the pieces are no longer of relevance, you can shove them off the board.
5) The cipher used will always start with the same character when encoding an alphanumerical character. Use this to your advantage, not only to figure out the cipher, but also to confirm your other findings.

There are 30ish games at the top, not gonna list them. Partly because it would be too much of a hassle of getting a list of the top games since I have to write them down one at a time while looking at them. If you're only taking part in an event like this for the GAs, it's not worth the trouble. It's better you leave the good games at the top to people who enjoy solving puzzles for the sake of solving puzzles. They are the ones I created this for. :)

Comment has been collapsed.

Unbelievably hard. You probably outdid yourself this time. Literally no idea what to do with these codes, no idea how to position them, no idea of what cipher and no idea of what the hints could even mean. Lost completely. :/

I truly admire those who solved this with such little information... Tried various ciphers went nowhere.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I simply can't imagine! :P

Anyway so many hints but I keep feeling that they are all pushing me in wrong directions instead of right ones...
I fail to understand even one of them and cipher seems way too complex to guess/find this time... Definitely your hardest agency puzzle so far (for me at least and in terms of hints that don't seem to help :/ ).

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

But the last two even tells you where to look and what to look for. :O Now you're just being lazy. ;P

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Nope not lazy. Just stupid probably or anyway not smart enough to figure anything here.

Truth is I've spent some time with these hints too, and believe it or not they did not help me one bit in finding anything, yes not even the cipher used... It's either way too obvious and I'm blind, or too complex almost as if it uses multiple encryption which feels crazy as hell. :/

It may seem obvious to you since you know the answer (obviously), but what I hate more is the fact that I've solved around ~70% or so of the puzzle agency puzzles, and this one does not seem to share anything in common with the previous ones, despite the fact that you hinted that it is. Maybe its one of those few that I did not solve...

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

How many PA cases did you go back and look at?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Actually did a fast scan through all and it did not help. :/ But the bad thing is you have not posted solutions in many of them (at least from what I saw), so I just had a fast look through their hints etc. Of course it's too much of a hassle to re-solve them from scratch. I mean I don't have THAT much time on my hands anyway and I'm sure no-one has. Anyway from what I gather it probably has to do with one of the earlier cases that I did not solve completely through to the end, for the same reason. Some times it's just too hard to get into your brain. Or some ciphers are just simply beyond me as it seems. Sorry.

I would probably buy a hint, but since none of the other ones helped me in this puzzle, it would be pointless.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Next hint I would tell you the case to look at mentioned in hint 6 (even though I've mentioned the same fact several times over the course of the story). That way there's basically no way of not knowing what cipher is used at least. :) And based on that the other pieces may just fall in place.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Nice but useless for me, since I already know which case it is. And its indeed a case I have not solved. Solution is not posted on that one either, so it's still impossible to guess the cipher so that's that. :/ I do have a hunch on what you are referring to when mentioning the thing with the first character, but it doesn't seem to apply in any of the provided characters. At least I can't apply it because I'm probably missing something obvious? I don't know. And that cubism hint in fact makes me more confused instead of being helpful...

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I'm not telling anyone to solve an old case. Just to find what cipher is needed to solve this.

Is the problem that you haven't figured out at all what to do with the 29 codes? That's step one. The cipher is step two.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Correct, I'm at point zero. At least now I know that I don't even need the cipher yet. But even finding the relevant case, did not help on finding the cipher, so keep that in mind. (I guess it would help if I had solved that case at the time)

Permalink

Still, no. Solving old cases has no relevance on finding the cipher I'm talking about in the hint.
