Good luck!
While you are at it, you might want to check "The Abbey of Crime Extensum", inspired by both the novel "The Name of the Rose" and the film of the same name, and based on the spanish game "La abadía del crimen" by Paco Menéndez and Juan Delcán, published in 1987 for 8-bit computers. It's available FOR FREE on Steam.

Does Umberto Echo know?

Since he died last year, I don't think he knows about it. Or maybe he knows now. Who knows?
He was contacted back in the day when the original (1987) game was going to be released, to license the use of the name of the novel. Since he didn't seem very interested in the request (he didn't know what a video game was), the developers decided to use the alternate name. Other details from the storyline were changed too, to distance the game from the novel (for legal reasons, I guess).

good point, my question was grammatically incorrect.
I asked because Eco was a stickler to details and a difficult person to work with, but due to his dogged insistence most media based on his work was very meticulously scrutinized and tended to be of good quality, content wise if not necessarily production wise. So if this game had been endorsed by Eco I would right away take the time to play it rather than placing it on the back burner. Thank you for letting us know about it :)

You should try it anyway, if you liked the novel and the movie, you'll like this game too... However, you'd also have to enjoy that kind of game (retro-isometric-pixel art games) and give it a chance since the controls and the camera is a bit confusing when you start playing it.

I still think the book had the best dream sequence I've ever read.
