Description

Woohoo, free stuff! And boobies!!

You don't even need to join the patreon thing to see them! But you'll have to contribute something... :)

Drat! Why didn't you make it level 0?

I dunno, just being a jerk, I guess. Sorry.

As for the giveaway, actually... I don't know what this thing even is. The screenshots look kinda dumb. There aren't any trading cards. And come on, it's sixty bucks. Not paying $60 for a pig in a poke. You'll have to try harder to get my money, Mr. Video Game Maker Person... :)

Good luck! :)

Umm, ok, here's a question for you. What do you think of the Steamgifts patreon thing? And did you ever try it? Just curious. :)

It does seem a bit surprising there are only 65 patreon supporters of Steamgifts. Wasn't it around 100 at the start? But, you know, the most recent post @ https://www.patreon.com/steamgifts/posts is from December 2018... Not exactly tumbleweeds, but it does seem a bit quiet...

Maybe people figure if they make giveaways, that's contributing enough? I dunno.

p.s. Is hiding giveaways like this getting old? Should I make a real puzzle once in a while? :) Real puzzles are a lot of work, you know... :) Maybe I'm the only goofball who puts giveaways in youtube links?

p.p.s. Maybe we should bump that guy's thread before he gets a bunch of blacklists and closes it? I dunno. :)

That youtube link looked weird, I'm pretty sure it got hexed.

I think it's good the option is there for those who want to give that little bit extra, but no interest in it myself.
I don't mind the ads on the site, there aren't that many, and none on the discussion side.

I'm for a real puzzle once in a while, as long as it isn't a jigidi. But I might be alone in that, since I enjoy solving puzzles. :)

Aha, that name looks familiar... :) Must have been some other puzzle... :)

I suppose the ads and the referral links on Steamgifts help a bit with server costs, but I wonder how much money is generated by people who really like free stuff... :)

I mean, even if they click on a link, what are the odds they will spend any money? I doubt those clicks have any cash value...

Lately I'm too lazy for real puzzles, it's just too much effort... :) Hmm... Stuff like https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/DFIO8/ and https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/6H34i/ were a lot of work.... :) I guess http://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/HGVre/ was mostly fun but that was a long time ago... :) Oh well...

Good luck if you try for it! :)

Was not so active last month. want to grab this idea again.
With Halloween and Christmas, October and December will be pretty lively.

I would try to aim for November or the beginning of next year, depending of how big it will become.

Just some rudimentary thoughts. Every puzzle maker can make his own puzzle or even multiple stages. And by solving 2 one can advance further from different directions. Like a math pyramid or so. (Uhh story value :D )

So we would be able to differentiate a bit in difficulty outer-> inner and not everything needs to be solved to reach the end.

So
Question 1: Would you be interested in participating.
Question 2: Have you some persons in mind who would like to participate as well.

I have some and will skim through the puzzle section as well but you're the first I told and ask now ;)

Hmmmmmm, think... I won't be able to participate, sorry... :( Just not enough brain to spare... Seems like I have to recharge between puzzles, right now I'm running on fumes so to speak. :) But thank you for asking! :)

I hope you can find a large group, there's still puzzle people around here somewhere... :)

But there's a free VR dlc! :) So whatever it is, it's miles ahead of https://store.steampowered.com/app/611670/The_Elder_Scrolls_V_Skyrim_VR/ and https://store.steampowered.com/app/611660/Fallout_4_VR/ ... :) Somehow Bethesda expect people to pay twice for the VR version of their games... :)

This game is too much for my poor eyes xD

But I wanted to thank you, not for the giveaway per se, but the song you hid the link in - I did not know of it, blew my mind coolio's song isn't original.

Also, good taste bruv!

Should also ty for the GA I guess, even tho boobies, 3D>>>

Yeah, if you judge by Youtube comments a lot of people didn't know... :)

Hmm... I seem to remember hearing how Weird Al had asked Coolio if it was ok to make his parody version, and he thought Coolio said it was ok, but somehow there was a misunderstanding and it wasn't really ok? Maybe Weird Al should have asked Stevie Wonder about it instead... :)

Definitely try for it if you're interested, although if there are no entries I save sixty bucks... :) Used to be I'd have a gift copy in my inventory I could use myself, but those days are long gone... :) If nobody enters I'll wait for a big sale... :)

Good luck if you try for it! :)

p.s. There's a free VR dlc for this game, so that's kinda 3D, if you have a VR thingamabob... :)

I first heard Coolio's version on a cd compilation from my old man.. i still like it, even knew it was used in a movie or something, but didn't know Stevie was the og. As for Weird Al, he's too weird for me - but tbh I dont know how many musicians even ask for permission before doing a cover/parody - but I do think lawsuits are pretty rare, or at least rarely covered in the media.

The game, eh, 6 days left, I might consider it, but it's just one of those games that are too weird to me XD
Just yday I found out you can "hide" games in your library - tho that seems like too much work in your case.

As far as VR goes, it's a cool technology, but, at least when it comes to boobies, I prefer different kinds of feedback :))

Maybe someone typos a different puzzle and stumbles here, even monkeys can write Shakespeare, so who knows :)

Since you like Stewie btw, you might like this as well - it's not too famous (or is it, it depends I guess) cuz I gather u know the famous stuff - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsAhCvLbNrs

Great song, thank you! :) It's easy to forget what music sounded like back when you actually had to be able to sing... :) With autotune everyone's Freddie Mercury... :)

I wouldn't call the Platters obscure, but I suppose nowadays you'd have to be looking for oldies to hear them... If you're looking for what's popular today, a lot of great music no longer exists... Oh well...

Yeah, I don't really like most of the modern music, most of the time - some songs I can listen to sometimes.

Well they are .somewhat known, I think it depends on the people you talk with.

Yeah, I kinda smelled that thread closing a mile away...

I think maybe the original message came off poorly, and I don't think supporting Steamgifts is a bad idea, but when people read a message they click on a profile and start judging who it came from, completely forgetting what the message itself was... Oh, you only blah blah blah, and look at blah blah blah, etc.

Well, I don't think we've been given any info about server costs or bandwidth or whatever, but I get the impression the Steamgifts patreon thing isn't bringing in enough money to matter... :( And you can be sure nobody's getting rich from ads or referral links, especially if the people clicking them never buy anything... :)

I dunno if this game is worth $60, but that's my problem... :) Good luck! :)

I was really enjoying "real puzzles" but i don't spend enough time for puzzles here anymore. I guess not many people doing puzzle threads either or am i not looking for them anymore? I don't know i remember there were a lot of puzzles around back in 2 years.

And the game just wow, they did really spend time on this lol. I guess it sells too. Top review made me laugh "My friends do not talk to me anymore" :D

Also yesterday i saw the thread and thought that will lead to something like that. People do care how is the topic represented and who opens it. I also thought he/she should open the topic with "I am not giving much but i contribute in a different way" kinda approach. That way that drama would be prevented all together.

For the patreon thing i am not in a position to do that myself but i think cg or anybody who is in charge should be a little more vocal about that. Yeah there is a patreon and that's it nobody talks about it. That way it seems like site doesnt need that much patreon money to an outside point of view. So i guess people who are already buying games tend to think that they are already doing enough to keep site alive i guess. And also people take breaks from sites like this one. I wasnt active for a 1.5 year. So the new people should be infromed about it maybe once or twice a year i guess. But cg doesnt like that as far as i see how he run things.

Yeah, guess I have the same question... Maybe puzzles are still going strong on Steamgifts but we're not looking for them? Not sure...

Think you're right about that topic, seems a lot of people ignored the message because of how it was presented... But I doubt there's anything that could be written that would result in more total supporters... :)

I mean, would people who skip a $1 bundle of actual games suddenly feel like donating $3 each month for absolutely nothing? :) Maybe some people would be willing to do it, but didn't know the patreon thing even exists? I think it's kinda hard to find unless you already know about it...

Good luck if you try for it! :)

To answer your question:

I hope we can all agree upon that steamgifts is a great site, there are many great sites on the internet. As typical internet user we are used to get stuff for free. Free information, free access and much more.
But please no ads, please. no analytics either, no I don't want to premium version and then we rant when something doesn't work. (Site note the DLH giveaways)

But stuff costs money, that is the hard truth.
The nice truth is there are always people who support, donate, are patreons, kickstarters and similiar.... You guys are awesome. Thank you!

As you especially ask for a personal opinion on steamgifts patreon: I don't know :D - I think it is important that it exists. I have no idea about server costs (especially as big as steamgifts) and no idea from ad income but a few bucks every month can decide if a site keeps running, can expand... but also I think they should talk more openly about it. I'm not doing it but you could think. Is it really needed? If really not, where is the not needed money going.
(Who knows what's written on the Patreon page ;)

I assume the patreon thing's display of a monthly take is a setting the creator can choose to display if they want to, i.e. "66 patrons" or "66 patrons $$k per month". But I dunno, never tried passing the hat myself... :)

It's odd how little the patreon thing is mentioned around here - maybe because there are so few people using it? I mean, if 1000 Steamgifts people were also supporters I'd expect to hear status reports, updates, planned features, something with a bit of visibility... But with only 65, it's probably not even worth the effort. Guess it depends on how much a person's time is worth, and how much they value their time off the clock, so to speak. :)

Good luck, if you try for this thing... :)

About the Patreon, when cg opened it, I was curious about it and wanted to donate but I couldn't at that time because I'm still a student and $3 monthly was a bit heavy for me that time. Right now, I think $3 is doable for me in my current state, but I think I'll have to get a job after I graduate before I commit to any other monthly expenses.

I agree with the people above. I think the way no one talks about it actually does make it seem like it isn't needed? Also, I think many of SG's users actually don't know about the Patreon, especially those weren't here around the time it was opened, and those who don't frequent the discussions. I also think cg should promote the Patreon somewhere more visible at least.

I think it is a bit strange that people think making giveaways is the same as donating to the Patreon. Maybe it's just me? Although hmm... thinking about it further, I guess it's also supporting the site by keeping its members active and/or bringing in new members. However, while I do appreciate everyone who contributes to the site in whatever way they can, I still don't think it's the same or better than donating to the site directly. Moreover, I don't agree with the way they were so aggressive towards a statement that (I think) wasn't meant maliciously. Maybe it could have been worded better, but I don't think the aggression was warranted in any way. Just a personal opinion, I guess?

Edit: I think it's kind of telling that not one of the people who aggressively commented on the first thread replied to the second one when really, they're saying basically the same thing.

Yeah, I don't know if the patreon thing is needed around here, but the way it's barely mentioned anywhere makes me think it's not bringing in enough money to justify making a big noise about it... Who knows, though? :)

I think donating might help keep Steamgifts going in a small way, but without the community this is just another place to get free stuff, and there's enough of those on the internet already... :) I think it's the people who make this place worthwhile, not the chance for people to fill their Steam library with random "games" they will never play. :)

That is interesting, hadn't thought about it but it seems you're right... :) Honey, vinegar, honey, vinegar, honey, vinegar, sigh... I just can't decide... :)

Good luck, if you try for it... :)

I'll post my reply here since the other thread got closed, and while icaio volunteered to open another, I'm not too fond of posting in public.
Link to the original comment, and thus, by extension, the old thread, for those whom it may concern.

Part 1 (reply to old comment)

According to https://www.steamgifts.com/stats/community/users umm... Arithmetic... It seems about 85% of Steamgifts members are "Level 0", i.e. never given away anything that wasn't free. :)

Or, in other words, ~85% of the one-million-and-counting userbase never bothered to reach level 1, which requires spending as little as one cent. ONE. CENT.
And it doesn't even need to be real money, thanks to cards and profits... which everybody is bound to have, since you need $100 of unbundled games to even register, and you'd have to be extremely nitpicky to reach that amount without trading cards enabled games.

And if you consider the number of users who didn't spend much more than that single cent, i.e. level 1, which is still well within the realm of "doable with just wallet profits", that number jumps to as high as ~95%.

It's quite surprising how these numbers are, respectively, the same as:

  1. the CV reduction applied to bundled games, and
  2. the discount required to consider games bundled (outside of actual bundles).

I don't know the statistics for active users, so maybe those numbers reflect a lot of people who joined years ago and immediately forgot about the place?

I'm pretty sure a sizable number are users who registered back when Steam Trades was just a part of Steam Gifts, while others are probably random guests who heard about "a site where you can win free games", tried their luck for a bit, then left because "this site is a scam", and "they never win" because "RNG is rigged in favour of the admin's friends". Or because "all they ever win is trash" (which they entered regardless).

Anyway, it looks like most people are here solely to get free stuff. I'm sure it's a nice idea, but asking people who really like free stuff to start paying $3 every month seems a bit optimistic...

Well, this site literally screams "come and get your free shit", so it's not surprising that it attracts that kind of audience.
Basically, to them this is no more than "gleam lite", or "giveaway dot shady extension" minus the shady extension.

You'd probably have to explain why people should support Steamgifts each month, since they visit a lot of other nice websites on the internet, too. Supporting each of them with cash would require a large trust fund... :)

You'd probably have to start by explaining how the people running those nice websites they visit for free actually need money to buy/rent servers, and pay for a decent connection, security, backups, DDoS protection, other people helping them, and so on.
But they probably won't understand anyway, since everything is served to them on a silver platter. Kids these days...

The benefits of paying that $3 to Steamgifts seem a bit, well, sparse... I suspect adblock already takes care of the ads for most people, so you'd only be getting a little star (unless you turned it off) and some vague feeling of good will.

Yeah, those "benefits" (blocking ads and analytics) are pretty much what adblockers are for, and they're free.
Whoever is reading this, make sure to use THE adblocker, uBlock Origin, i.e. the only one (so far?) that didn't sell their (and their users', without them knowing) soul to ad providers.

The addition of a $1 tier, even with no benefits, might help, as that amount seems much easier to come by compared to $3.
You'd just need to cut down on some small non-vital expenses, like buying one fewer can of Coke/beer/whatever.
Unless yo're in a situation where every penny counts, or you don't have access to any payment method you can use on Patreon.

Part 2 (reply to giveaway description)

As for the giveaway, actually... I don't know what this thing even is. The screenshots look kinda dumb. There aren't any trading cards. And come on, it's sixty bucks. Not paying $60 for a pig in a poke. You'll have to try harder to get my money, Mr. Video Game Maker Person... :)

It's a waifu creator. Ever seen or heard about those dress-up Flash minigames that used to be popular with girls yesteryear?
This is more or less the same, except pseudo-3D (+ optional VR DLC), and you can customize everything, not just clothes.
No more, no less. A $60 dress-up game. At least without looking for a certain something...

That something being the 18+ patch that restores the cut content, a.k.a. the actual game (of which this is the demo), a school life simulator that they probably didn't even try to pass through Valve's filters, as it definitely wouldn't pass, since you can get to know the other students... hmm... pretty well. Down to a physical level. Down there, if you catch the drift.

And they don't need to stress marketing too much, as Illusion is a well-known name among weebs.
Just look at their other game on Steam, VR Kanojo, which was in the Platinum tier for the best selling VR titles of 2018, among popularity monsters such as Skyrim VR and Fallout 4 VR.

What do you think of the Steamgifts patreon thing? And did you ever try it? Just curious. :)

I think Patreon, or donations in general, are a decent alternative to ads to fund websites, as long as they aren't pushed down your throat at every turn (at which point, that can't be considered "asking" for donations anymore), which is luckily not the case here.

I just dislike how you can brag about it by displaying that star near your nickname, as if telling "Look at me! I'm a generous donator!" while possibly looking down on "plebs". Just like how "generous gifters" look down on "leechers".
But that's how Steam Gifts is, I guess.

I'm not a Patron, and I don't see myself being able to become one in the immediate future, but I would if I could.
Although I'd definitely remove the star, and not use any of the cosmetics if pledging for a higher tier (maybe just the custom gifs).

It'd be nice if there was a simple "click here to donate" button with no perks, but I suppose some people do need incentives...

I dunno.

It does indeed look surprising, especially when you have lots of users spending lots of real cash on giveaways.
It'd only seem logical to redirect a small amount towards supporting the site that lets you host them, but maybe that's just me.

p.s. Is hiding giveaways like this getting old? Should I make a real puzzle once in a while? :) Real puzzles are a lot of work, you know... :) Maybe I'm the only goofball who puts giveaways in youtube links?

Huh... not really. It's a much needed breath of fresh air compared to the standard plain links, SGTools filters, and trains.
Gives you that feeling that you're actually working to earn that invite, rather than being "public giveaways for cool kids".
That said, yeah, this was pretty simple, compared to your usual stuff... though it didn't instantly dawn on me that "Base 16" = Hex, for some reason :3

p.p.s. Maybe we should bump that guy's thread before he gets a bunch of blacklists and closes it? I dunno. :)

Paddy closed their thread after being gang... er, looked down by "generous gifters" due to their ratio, but we can bump icaio's thread now.

Aha, so you make a person, then run them around the game world doing stuff? Why, it's practically Skyrim! :) Maybe Bethesda should take a look, find some ideas for their next Elder Scrolls game... :)

I wonder if most Steamgifts patreon supporters hide their cosmetic reward things? Every so often I see a star in the forum but it takes me a few seconds to remember what it means... And I haven't won any giveaways recently enough to see one of the umm, the custom you won gifs. Come to think of it, I never even got to see the space cat. :( Sigh.

Maybe the need for a recurring payment is locking out a lot of people? I tend to take things like paypal or credit cards for granted, forgetting there's a lot of people in various places worldwide who don't have them and can't get them...

Hmm... Maybe there could be a leftover inventory junk supporter tier, so people could donate csgo skins or trading cards or whatever to the Steamgifts donation bot, and you get credited for whatever the stuff earns in wallet money when it sells. :)

Just thinking out loud here... :) Most likely someone would "donate" a bunch of stolen stuff and get the bot banned... :) And who wants to read all the forum threads about hey, my coupon is 50% discount on a $60 game, so it's worth $30! Where's my supporter thing? :)

Yeah, I put a second link to this giveaway in that thread, didn't really fit but what can you do? :) Kinda figured the other thread was going to be closed, a bit surprised it took that long, actually...

Maybe there's a trick to writing that makes people trip over themselves in a mad rush to pile on and correct you. :) It would help with puzzles, I wouldn't need to keep bumping them myself... :)

I suspect one difficulty promoting the Steamgifts patreon thing is the answer to the question "What do I get for my money?" needs to remain "Absolutely nothing!" :) Good luck convincing any of the Steamgifts free stuff hounds to give you money for absolutely nothing... :)

If there were ever subscriber-only giveaways, a free Steamgifts Loot Box™ key per month, or some other direct benefit for donating, I think a lot of people would leave and never come back... That's not the sort of place I want to visit, anyway... :)

Maybe a Steamgifts tip jar would work, though? Not a recurring subscription, but a way to kick in a bit of money just one time, if a person felt like it. I dunno. :)

Good luck, if you try for this thing! :)

Holy crap, that VR video for this... game?...
Aaanyway... I am inclined do to the Patreon when I make a bunch of giveaways, but that's not really all that frequently, and when I last did a swath of giveaways, I also definitely couldn't justify the cost of a Patreon sub. (I know, it's really not much, but... food is important, ya know?)

If I were living more monetarily comfortably, enough that I could do giveaways as casually as I used to, then I'd probably sub -- if only for the extra spacecat alternative winner gifs.

Hidden links are still good. Puzzles are still good, too. :)

So if this is in a bundle somewhere, please let me know so I can buy it there instead. :) Otherwise I'll have to add the winner on Steam and put https://store.steampowered.com/app/1073440/__Koikatsu_Party/ in my cart... :(

Yeah, that's pretty good for foil cards. :) My tf2 demoman foil went for around $30 during the community beta, but that was years ago... :)

I recently made a huge pile of boosters for free-to-play games, the original idea was to get all of those badges to level 5 but I ran out of gems. :( Severely underestimated the number of f2p games with trading cards... :) And the worst part was the lack of Summer Sale cards in this past sale, so I didn't craft a single badge. :( Hopefully the Winter Sale will have a badge with cards, or I'm going to feel pretty dumb... :)

Comment has been collapsed.

Woah, $30... that beta was quite something, huh.

And yeah, I'm also looking forward to the return of sale cards... Their absence last time wasn't a particularly smart move, considering Valve makes money with them.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well, there was no way back then to know how common foil cards would be today... :) It could have ended up being some super rare thing that would be worth thousands of dollars today... :) I'd be the idiot in that case, like a person selling all their bitcoins for a nice profit, back when they were worth $20... :) Speaking hypothetically, of course... :)

I'd feel bad for that demoman buyer except... Anyone willing to spend that much money on a Steam trading card can afford it. :)

I have a hunch the days of "craft during sale = free sale card" might be gone, though. Valve get a bit of cash from each market transaction, but I think these changes are a result of trying to make bot farms disappear. Rather than deal with the drama and false positives you'd get by banning bot accounts, you only have to make them unprofitable and they will disappear of their own accord. :)

Temporarily-free games don't drop cards. Free sale doodads can't be turned into gems. Exploring the queue gives nothing. All those things used to mean small profitz for bot owners, but multiplied by hundreds of thousands of bot accounts it's probably not small profitz any more... Who's going to pay the electricity to keep all those bots connected if you can't profit from connecting them? :)

Maybe... Probably, even. But I hope not.

Hmm...

Who it is - mysterious internet person, I guess? No idea... :) What you get out of it - bupkis. :)

Guess that's not a compelling pitch, eh? :) Maybe I won't apply for the Steamgifts marketing position... :)

Good luck! :)

Drat! Why didn't you make it level 8?
Just kidding. You're awesome!
About the patreon - I never used it, because I consider myself too poor for that. But I really respect guys who do. It's like with giveaways, just everyone is a winner.
About puzzles... Well, I would be happy to see real puzzle once in a while. But beggars can't be choosers)

Interesting, that idea didn't occur to me at all. :) I guess 65 divided by a million's not much of a win, though. :) But it's better than nothing! :)

I think my main problem with making puzzles isn't all the thinking upfront, since I can do that any time at all, just a bit when time permits eventually adds up to a complete puzzle. :) The main problem is I'm signing up for a week of replying... Hours and hours every day... And aside from all the time spent typing, finding something to say can be very draining... Oh well. :)

Fortunately, with stuff like this I don't need to say much at all. :) Good luck! :)

Hmmm, I'm sure there's been more than one puzzle where base 16 was useful... :) Unfortunately I'm too lazy to hunt them down... :)

Good luck, if you try for it! :)

Thank you, fiftykyu. I was missing your boobies. Um, that's not right! I mean, your boobie giveaways. Yeah, that's it. :D

I'm surprised Patreon's been so successful for so many people (including lots of boobie artists). When I first heard of it I thought very few people would be happy to sign up for a monthly donation, but I guess there are more people out there with monthly income that they're happy to give away than I expected.

I'm not very good at puzzles, so please keep hiding links in ways that I can work out. :D

Edit: Hahaha, and this one was already on my wishlist, too! :)

There's one additional benefit for creators of subscription services - people forget about them. Woohoo, free money! :) Perhaps they aren't supposed to talk about that, though. :)

Guess that works for both of us, since I'm not good at puzzles either, just stubborn. :) This sort of thing is simple to create, and simple to solve. :) Guess there's no feeling of accomplishment, but who needs that when you can have free boobies? :)

Hopefully there's no region restrictions or missing price if you win! :) Good luck! :)

I don't see a problem with setting up a Patreon to give users of the site a way to say thank you for providing the service. Unfortunately, there aren't many people that would do that just out kindness in their hearts. I would say there's a number of things that he could try to make it more appealing for the average SGer to sub to the Patreon.

  1. Expand on the profile idea. Allow the users to further customize their profiles. Add more stats to be viewable. Etc.
  2. Provide more frequent updates on what's in active development, the direction that the site is heading in or potential ideas that could be implemented in the future. Even something as a small update every 2-3 months would go a long way.
  3. Donator subforum? I'm kinda up in the air on this one. I'd hate to fragment of already smallish group of active users as it is, but a subforum seems like an idea people would like.

I would set a base price of 5-6$ a month and give users the benefits from all current tiers, as I imagine most of those that are patreons are on the 3$ a month tier anyways. It kind of surprises me that cg isn't doing more to try to turn a profit from this website, to be honest. It really speaks volumes to his character.

Hmm, not too many people, it seems... :) But 65 66 is better than 0... :)

I think more frequent updates would be a selling point, unless there's nothing to talk about of course... Six straight months of "everything's still working, nothing new to report" might discourage subscriptions... :)

Yeah, not sure how a sub-forum would work... Do patreon things generally give subscribers a place to hang out and umm, talk about stuff? What would Steamgifts subscribers even talk about?

Hey, it looks like we all have jobs.
Why yes, I suppose we do.
Five bucks a month isn't a lot of money, is it?
No, not really.
Say, that's some nice weather we're having... :)

I suppose you'd want to avoid even the appearance of pay-to-win, which limits the benefits somewhat... Cosmetic things, I suppose, like the current rewards. :) No clue. :)

Good luck, if you try for this whatever-it-is... :) And happy belated cake day! :) Seems I missed it... :(

Too much boobies for me.

About the Sg patreon: It's not necessary. Some kind of campaign to get people to stop using adblock here or at least whitelist the site would be way more efective since the website is full of ads.

Sorry, I'll try to find one with fewer boobies next time... :)

Hmm... I think with all the malicious ads out there, asking people not to adblock is just dangerous... I'm not going to risk my computer just to help a random website get a few cents from ads...

Good luck in the next one! :)

I did subscribe (or whatever you'll call it) on Patreon for a little while, but realized I'm already spending money on games for giveaways and that's a much more concrete way to support the site. Without giveaways, the site is dead. With 10,000 patrons and no giveaways, you'd just have a bunch of people on a forum with stars next to their names talking about how dead the site has become and how things were better in the old days.

Also felt like some of the "magic" of Steamgifts has gone away, don't know how to describe it exactly. Since around the time of the change in the points system. Combined also with the lack of inventory gifts, regional gifting restrictions, the onslaught of trash games, the slow decline of Humble Bundle... But maybe that's just me projecting my own feelings on the site.

I couldn't point to a specific event, but I agree things feel different today... There are still lots of positive people around, but at times it looks like swimming against the tide... Just a place to get free stuff, I suppose...

Looking at https://www.steamgifts.com/stats/community/comments or https://www.steamgifts.com/stats/community/discussions or https://www.steamgifts.com/stats/community/giveaways might be interesting, but I don't know what it means, if anything. :)

Good luck, if you try for it! :)

I think everyone should have a patreon! Everyone and everything deserves to be paid for one reason or another.

P.S. I don't think it is getting old, but it is obscure, just by pure luck some might stumble upon it, so I suppose am one of the lucky ones

p.p.s. By bumping it too much won't have that exact result thou? Or is there no such thing as too much bumping?

I'm a bit ambivalent about the whole thing - websites aren't free, but if we had to pay for every one we visited we'd all need a second or third job... :) Or go back to reading books... :) So I dunno. I've seen various patreon pages where I thought wow, nice work if you can get it... :) But with only 66 people signed up to the Steamgifts patreon I'm not sure that's enough money to keep the lights on. And is it 66 people at $15, or 66 people at $3? :)

I'm curious how many other people do that goofy youtube hiding thing... Someone will always mention reading the video comments in a vain search for the giveaway link, which makes me feel bad... Sorry, that's not where it is hiding... :)

Well, I think that particular thread was doomed from the start, nobody likes to be told what to do with their own money... :) But you're probably right, the responses were a bit more negative than most people are willing to deal with... I suppose everyone wanted to get their licks in... Oh well...

Oh, speaking of bumping, here's some... Hopefully not too much... :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqn3PF_DcSg :)

Good luck! :)

Nice song. Nice boobies.

I don't like Patreon that much. That's pretty much it. Didn't know steamgifts had a patreon but I'm not really interested. The whole system just reminds me of paying for bills... once a month you'll get an invoice and money slowly drains out of your account (even if it's tiny amounts).

It seems a lot of people agree with you, it's not a popular item... Probably does need a boobie tier, after all...

Good luck! :)
