Some ideas to listen to:
The Enigma TNG (cyberpunk / electro / trancy)
Summoning (Lord of the rings themed death / doom metal, try the "Stronghold" or "Oath Bound" albums first)
Abney Park (steampunk)
Feist (no idea on the genre^^, just sounds nice)
some beautiful female voices: Loreena McKennitt, Ingrid Lukas, Roisin Murphy
and last but not least, another bit of metal: Ouroboros' album "Glorification of a Myth"
could go on, but that should be enough for now ;)
I really did like Abney Park. A really nice discovery for me :p
I did find Feist enjoyable as well as Loreen McKennit. For the metal part I'm not really into growl but don't worry you did please the dude sitting next to me 'cause he do love that :p
