Probably because it's set to private, or has the privacy setting "Keep your Steam Gift inventory private, regardless of your inventory setting above" checked, which is by the way, the option by default.

If you mean Inventory my first guess would be the "Keep your Steam Gift inventory private, regardless of your inventory setting above." privacy setting ;)

It's a quite useful setting because the other person can still make counteroffers when you're trading cards or stuff like that but nobody can see your gifts so less attention from beggars.
