RPGs are my favourite genre as well.
Growing up, I played them mainly on my C64, with the odd Sega Genesis or Nintendo game thrown in for good measure.
Ultima IV, Ultima V, Wasteland, The Legend of Blacksilver, Might & Magic, The Bard's Tale III, sooo many fun RPGs on the C64, and I can still play them today via an Emulator!
I've also played many fun PC RPGs over the years. Fallout 1, 2, and 3, Wasteland 2, Planescape: Torment, the Baldur's Gate series, Neverwinter Nights (the original one, not the online one), the AD&D "Gold Box" series of games. Wow! Fond memories of them all!:)

I've almost jumped into Ultima a million times. Should I go for it? I, sadly, never had a chance to game with C64. I just stare longingly from a distance wanting to nerd out on it so bad!
All the PC RPGs you mentioned are great games! Super fun and well designed!

As long as you won't feel bummed out by the graphics and basic gameplay (compared to RPGs of today, that is), I would give the series a shot for sure! There is a LOT of lore to be had about Britannia and Lord British. If you can, try to find a C64 Emulator (they are free) and a site that has C64 ROMS on it (again, free, and there are safe sites out there). If you don't mind waiting until I am done work on Tuesday, I will find the site for you that I got the hundreds of C64 ROMs from (plus the Emulator).:)
Once you get it, try to play the games in order just to see how they change as the series progresses (you'll probably want to skip Ultima II, however, since it is generally viewed as the worst game in the series. That being said, you can give it a shot just to try it out if you want).
For the Ultima series, play Ultimas I through V on the C64 (the sound and colour scheme is better than the PC versions), but playing Ultima VI on the PC is a must. The game is so big that they had to remove a LOT of options from the C64 version. For example, there is NO music and hardly and sound effects!
Ultima VII (which has two parts plus two expansions) is viewed as one of the best games in the series. It had issues with its memory manager (that was a thing back in the day! Thankfully they aren't really needed nowadays!), but I am certain there are fixes to be found on the web.
If you want, please feel free to add me as a friend on Steam! I would be happy to help you out with classic RPGs and even give you help playing the Ultima games (I have about 15 pages or so written down for Ultima IV, including every single option for every single NPC conversation! A testament to how much I love that game! ^_^ )
Have a nice day!:)

I still adore older games, Divine Divinity is one of my favorites and it's definitely a bit aged. I think content and overall atmosphere do a lot more for a game than beautifully rendered graphics. I will definitely look into it. If you shoot me that link I'll look at it and check out a few old rpgs soon! :)
I always try to play through games chronologically so as such I've played plenty of older games that way! Thank you for that tip, I'll make sure to find 6 on PC when I get to it! :D
So it's not just me keeping notes on games a lot of the time. My hubby does it too! I'm glad to know there are others xD

Mass Effect trilogy. I mean it's THE Space Opera, with many fantastic characters, touching stories, elaborate races and diverse romances, and with what was my favorite part - the sense of camaraderie. Many games have great characters that you love, friends and foes, companions and love interests, but this game made me actually feel and treasure those bonds that I've created, those moments that I've shared with them. Game that gave me my best pal Garrus and the rest of the multirace gang through forging our friendship in battles and stories, friendly banters and grave disputes, and not just as a part of my background. It felt awesome, and I'm yet to find another game that could do that for me
