Gifts public visibility in inventory are disabled by default I think. Compare it with the mine, you can see an option to select what to see, if this exists then I think the inventory has gifts public visibility enabled.

Check Privacy Settings. You'll see this option "Keep your Steam Gift inventory private, regardless of your inventory setting above."

Yep, true enough, that must be what that setting is for then. Now I know!
