Space Engine is a free, open world space simulator game, and since there is no gameplay involved other than zipping through space, one could totally roleplay as a space gangster on the run (always winning, forever).
The angle in Space Engine is that everything is based on real-world astronomical data, as in all the data available to man (the entire Hipparcos catalog of stars). Beyond the boundaries of observable universe, astronomical bodies are procedurally generated without end. Don't take my word for it, here's an exempt from the FAQ:
