What is a game that you consider your guilty pleasure? ("something one enjoys despite feeling that it is not generally held in high regard.")

bump

Congratulations again. I planned to check out this game but realize now that I want no less than Deluxe Ice Cream @_@

Guilty pleasure? From not very popular games, maybe Faster Than Light. But it is still held in high regard by gamers liking the genre.

Among games which others could have found me guilty playing, are number of yuri games, since anime-styled games generally are held in low esteem (and I didn't even need them to be anime-styled, but there is not much choice). But sure, this is a broader question.

What I am really feeling guilty of is spending sometimes extra time on doing achievements which way too often (a posteriori) seem not worth it. I am totally not achievement hunter and for most games I try not to touch any guides not to ruin reward of exploratory feeling. For some games I check achievements not to miss potentially valuable content (missing unique game content is something I consider a loss if I like the game) which is ..agreeable. But! Sometimes I think 'why not do a couple of extra achievements for challenge/fun' and end up spending much more time than I wished and probably with way less fun :D So at the point I get them, I may feel only relief and ugh... this is confusing :3 I guess people feel rewarded when feeling that they 'solve problems', even if mind understands that problem is pretty much imaginary >_> So this is guilty "pleasure".

I guess, my guilty pleasure would be playing games. I constantly feel like I should be doing something worthwhile when I sit down to play. I feel especially guilty when my better half enters my room and I play a PC game, regardless of the game itself. It probably stems from my youth when my parents were very strict about the amount of time we were allowed to spend on our old C128. So I often played in secret, always listening whether someone approached my room so I could turn off the Commodore and the TV (old black&white one that I loved, since I felt phenomenally upper-class to have a TV in my room; granted, some of the buttons were broken and you risked getting shocked when tuning because some panels were missing, but it was a wonderful TV for me).

As for any specific game that I feel particularly guilty when playing ... I guess any FPS game, really. That's when I feel how my wife just really feels she married someone with underlying aggression levels of a pubescent youth. Well, by now she knows me well enough to know better, but I still prefer to play a non-violent game when she is at home, even if we are in different rooms and I use my head phones. :D

I would say my "guilty pleasure" are online time-wasters, in the sense that I know I should be playing some game from my Steam library, but I chose to spend my time on that online time-waster in question.

I will name a genre instead of a game: Hidden object games. I was once called a "bored housewife" on BLAEO for enjoying them but I don't care what anyone says. I like them :P

The movie Waterworld. While it did not do well at all, and was slammed by the critics, I really enjoyed this movie.:)

Oops! It's supposed to be a game that is a guilty pleasure! Hmmmmm. I guess it could be A Wild Catgirl Appears! . I actually enjoyed that story, and found the characters to be funny and cute.:)

That's okay, any guilty pleasure is fine :)

I've heard from a lot of people say that Waterworld isn't as bad as critics say, and a lot of people actually really enjoy it. I have to check it out sometime.

I haven't played A Wild Catgirl either but i can see it being cute and also a guilty pleasure :P

Not sure about Guilty Pleasure, because any time playing games is time well spent. However, I have put more time into Nimble Quest than any sane person should have.

Stupid idle/clicker games. I really don't see the point, but I... can't... stop. :(
