I didn't play or watch something released over the past year, so can't recomend, sorry. If you don't mind the recommendations of old classic movies, from those that I saw recently, I most like Judgment at Nuremberg and There Will Be Blood (excellent actor's work of Daniel Day-Lewis).
About games - well, currently I'm playing again Titan Quest (love this game). From not very old games - for example, Kathy Rain, if you like adventure games (I was intrigued by mentioning Twin Peaks as one of the sources of inspiration and played the demo, very well, at least I like the beginning).
