If you like different kinds of architecture then this is your stop. There are so many unique and interesting building in walking distance from here, starting with the station itself. It's a train, subway, and tram station with a rather striking look that has been given quite a few nicknames over the years: flying saucer, wilted sunflower, tea kettle, and manhole cover. See the pics below to form your own opinion.

Other interesting buildings nearby:

I'm starting with the newest building cause it's just so cool. The Market Hall (Dutch: Markthal) is a residential- and office building with a market hall underneath The inside of the building is adorned with an 11.000 m2 artwork. There are really nice shops and restaurants inside but it's worth a visit for the building alone.

Cube houses (Dutch: Kubuswoningen) are a set of innovative houses based on the concept of "living as an urban roof": high density housing with sufficient space on the ground level. The architect tilted the cube of a conventional house 45 degrees, and rested it upon a hexagon-shaped pylon. His design represents a village within a city, where each house represents a tree, and all the houses together, a forest.

Grote of Sint-Laurenskerk (English: Great, or St. Lawrence Church), the only remnant of the medieval city of Rotterdam. The church was built between 1449 and 1525. In the Rotterdam Blitz on May 14, 1940 it was heavily damaged.

There are quite a few more interesting buildings without a Wikipedia page that I've added some pics of below.

I used to live near this station and played a lot of Dungeons & Dragons and other RPGs here.

There's a building like that in Italy too, it's called Matitone (which means big pencil) but, imho, it doesn't resemble a pencil that much. Your does the job much better.

Cool. I can see the resemblance. Neither building comes super close but in both cases the name works.
