Yes, they are really really close. I already backed this with as much as I can afford - so I really hope it will be a successful project. I played FoM in the early days, I loved it - then came the subscription model and I was still at school. Ruined it for me.
The graphics were never the convincing part of FoM, but the depth of gameplay surely was.
