So I made this topic for people who wonder when they will level up. I based this list on cg's post days ago and after seeing the Real CV calculator tool that our fellow SG user knsys created here I realized it's pretty much in line with it. The mistake most people make is, that they base their CV on the "Gifts Sent" value, but that one now counts all bundle games with their full value. You don't get 30$ CV anymore from your first few bundle games, they are now always calculated into your CV level with only 15% of their full value. Also you need to have at least 5 entries on your giveaway. For a full explanation of CV Levels and Reduced CV/No CV giveaways click here and here

You can check your Real CV here and compare it to this list (kinda redundant now that knsys added your specific range to the calculator :D)
I try to update the table from time to time, if you need the current live numbers check here at the bottom of the page.

Contributor Level Contributor Value Range Number of users (October 3, 2022) Percentage of Users Percentage of Users (Level 0 excluded)
Level 0 $ 0 980,047 85.088% -
Level 1 $ 0.01 - 25 114,023 9.900% 66.386%
Level 2 $ 25 - 50 18,627 1.617% 10.845%
Level 3 $ 50 - 100 14,062 1.221% 8.187%
Level 4 $ 100 - 250 12,360 1.073% 7.196%
Level 5 $ 250 - 500 5,770 0.501% 3.359%
Level 6 $ 500 - 1000 3,415 0.296% 1.988%
Level 7 $ 1000 - 2000 1,955 0.170% 1.138%
Level 8 $ 2000 - 3000 625 0.054% 0.364%
Level 9 $ 3000 - 5000 518 0.045% 0.302%
Level 10 $ 5000+ 403 0.035% 0.235%

In case you are wondering why these are static & not dynamic like in the beta ?

"We did have dynamic before, but it meant people would lower in levels over time if they're inactive. In a couple of years, we might have to raise them" -cg

So these are correct for now.

"STORM: Frontline Nation (1 Copy) (0$ Total)" sad when i gave it away it was $40 and not bundled

but they should add both on the profile so it'll stop "why i X level i have Y contrib" threads.

ya no joke it went from $40->$10 or $5 (i forget) overnight

funny story i listed it to get $100 contrib but right after it was devalued and it discouraged me from doing giveaways and so now i gave away devil may cry to hit $100 again and guess what? the site was changed and now i'm at $70.

Wait for knsys to fix the tool, nothing I can do about it. It worked fine before. The ranges are still correct btw, you can estimate your CV by hovering over your level and comparing to the table.

It's a bug in SteamGifts itself not the tool.

If you want to check it, just open steamgifts on a browser where you are not signed in or in a private-tab on your regular browser. Steamgifts will return a too_many_redirects error

Steam currently does not display a Price for BioShock 2. I guess this get's translated to 0

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I don't get it why its price is changing though. Price (value) of the gifts should always stay the same as when they were created. Or are the gifters getting money back from Steam after every pricedrop? That would make sense but never heared about that.

Permalink

I would assume it's just implemented as separate lists, i.e. a table that connects GAs to games, and another that connects games to prices... Locking the price seems like a good idea in general, handling games turning f2p etc., but that would also mean GAs created during steam price errors would be locked to wrong values and would not autocorrect...

all speculation though ;)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

No as it would not check sale prices. (Price errors are alwas related to the sale prices I think.) So it would work fine.

Permalink

The problem is Steam sometimes reports wrong prices through api. One of such cases is when pack gets price of single game from this pack. You would need serious manpower to monitor prices of thousands of items and decide in each case whether price change was legit or api error.

There could be a new Role for it on the site, like the Bundler now. That user would fix/manage the pricelist table, what would not be harder than the Bundler's job.

Permalink

First, it's a lot of dull work - steamdb.info reports 22299 apps in database. How many of them change price, get added or removed? Even if it's very low percentage like 0,2%, it's still quite big number to be dealt with on a daily basis.
Second, for this role you would need trusted users as they will be indirectly changing CV, and I would rather see them joining mods team.
On the other hand, current system corrects itself with time, leaving only few special cases to be dealt with by admin.
Imo, effects are not worth the effort.
