Idk at least for railworks 3 still gotta pay some money to give it away while shadowgrounds if completely free to them.
Do think should reduce value be best still can give away if they like

They might as well remove contributor status from everyone. Since this thing appeared all we ever hear are complains about cheating to increase contributor value. More threads like this, I bet we will get on CG nerve enough and poof. No contributors. No way to cheat. No increased chances of winning.

That would make no sense. I think a person who has given 1000$ worth of games should have better oportunities that i do

The reason people complain is because people like you go get free exploited keys and give them away while others buy or give away games that have actual value and receive the same advantages as you. It says you gave away $64.93, but every game on that list is free and worthless to the point that you couldn't trade them for anything on Steam Trades ever.

oh and sure you contributed a lot. huh. Faerie Solitaire? Lucid? Nuclear Dawn? IGN prime keys? Look at yourself before pointing at others. And mind you, I bought them myself and traded them away on steamtrade and gifted them with no issues just fine. Who said those games are free? I sure didn't spin no slot machine and get them with a snap of my finger. And if you would have checked, I gave those 'exploited' games away way before they were marked as exploited. I am not looking to get into an argument (this thread is about those Shadowgrounds) but you came and specifically pointed me out so.

No DarkyHBK, they should reduce contributions to 0 to noobs like you, cause you in fact contributed exactly that much.

Getting credit for a free game is getting credit for a free game, no matter how many you give away

You don't think there are several people holding on to keys to give away in a week to make it less obvious?

I'm not saying to make it retroactive. I'm saying, shut them all down now and remove the game from the list so it can't even be chosen any more.

Problem is, this isn't the way the site is built. Right now, if the price of a game changes it changes for everyone. That includes past gifters. They don'T keep historical prices for each game, just the current one.

You're telling me if I give away a $20 game and that's my only game, so I have a $20 value...and then the game is permanently reduced on Steam to $10 in two months, my contributor value drops to $10? I highly doubt that.

Considering the number of threads with people complaining about their contribution level dropping due to a game's value going down, you shouldn't doubt it. Although they could change it at some point, as it is now it's exactly the way it works.
Two quick examples of such threads: 1 2 (didn't have time to dig up more)

Wow, that just....doesn't make sense. Value should definitely be determined at the time of the giveaway and not change. But that's for another discussion, not here. Thanks for the links.

Yep. Gave away 3 copies of DOTA2 back when it was valued at $40 or so. Price greatly depreciated :\

I agree with removing the givewaways, or at least the contributor points. It's kind of disappointing, though predictable, that the keys were farmed by people who didn't need them and just wanted to increase their contributor status on here instead of left for people who actually wanted the game.
I don't care too much about the giveaways cluttering up the site, I just think its rude to regift a key won in those circumstances, when it was taken away from someone else who could have won it (since the site states there were only a limited number of keys).

If they're just abusing the system so that they can profit from it, then yes. Go to Summerseal.com now and noone can even use the thing because all the keys are gone. I'm willing to bet a big reason is hoarders and people planning to benefit from it.

Contributor status --> more giveaways with fewer entries --> contributor groups.
Basically, by hoarding/stealing all the keys, they get to enter and inevitably win more real games at the expense of people who honestly wanted Shadowgrounds for themselves. Not to mention the developers explicitly asked for people not to hoard keys.

If I went to a homeless shelter and got some free soup and gave it to other homeless people for benefits, would that sound right to you?

Site is http://summerseal.com/ but no more keys for today (thank god)

Site could be back though... you should watch for it tomorrow

As mildly annoying as it is, I think things should kind of be allowed to play out. Developer giveaways and Steam sales are bound to bring up the occasional craziness but they're usually short lived and less trouble than over moderation. Anyway, if someone can sit there all day farming for CD keys to gain a small virtual credit at a game giveaway site, good luck to them.

Yeah, I've got a job and little time to play that stupid site. Managed to get 3 coupons and would have gotten both games if the site hadn't crashed on me on the second one. If people have no real life to speak of and they can do this all day long, good for them...

Since when is being a noob something to be jealous of?
Comment has been collapsed.
Your right it will be short lived. People just love to complain about any thing.

Plus, the more often players ("players" since I bet half of those keys will never actually get played, just sitting in libraries because some guy gave his 90 closest friends keys he won) abuse these, the less devs will give away free stuff. I think Frozenbyte must've slept through the winter 2011 sale coal abuse debacle.

They took some good things...probably we will get now only coupons :/
Fuu.. I wanted dis game so bad.

Look, someone else who likes to complain about the Shadowgrounds giveaways. So you have to get past a few Shadowgrounds entries because you're too lazy to filter them out, boohoo.
Comment has been collapsed.
This has nothing to do with them clogging up the pages - you clearly have no idea why people are against free exploited keys, eh?

Seems like SGs grand idea of adding contributor only giveaways backfired.

+1, people don't seem to understand the situation here, all they think about is OH MAN FREE STUFF

With all the abused FREE keys, why not just not allow the two Shadowgrounds games to be given, forever? Yes, that means legit owners/gifters won't be able to give it away, but honestly, boohoo.
