I wonder how many games given away on this site were nearly free or cheap when bought. So they are upset people are giving away a free game instead of a 1.50 game? I wanted Shadowgrounds Survivor and ended up getting so many copies of the first game. I would rather give the extras away to the community than let the go to no use.

The same has happened with each and every free giveaway, faerie solitary is the latest that comes to mind. And many people miss those giveaways and then want the game. Stop whining, the site isn't about internet phallus size, it's about giving away. Did you giveaway just to participate in more Giveaways? Or to have a sense of superiority? Don't other people deserve the chance to win this game?
Also, considering it's price... it's nothing much. You take use up more time/money earning it, than you would earn working. Consider it the work of them.

If you remove Shadowgrounds, you have to remove Nuclear Dawn either and Faerie Solitaire, Lucid and many others that have been given away for free lately. And for Fearie Solitaire they gave out 2 copies per person. So I had 2 extra copies from the PM and one from the public list.
Just stop bitching and be happy for those that got some free legit games. Nuclear Dawn wasn't exactly "free" it's more like 50% off and everyone bought it twice, this is something that you just mash a button until you get a key

I wouldn't assume that everyone can afford another game. They might have received everything as gifts from generous friends / birthday (or Christmas) presents from family / wallet gift purchase / wallet card purchase by someone else etc. One of my friends hasn't bought many of his Steam games personally - mostly gifts, presents and the like.

But I got 3 Games as gifts from my friends lately: Tropico 4, Need for Speed, Dead Space 2
I have some very generous friends that know that I am poor and cannot really afford much games. All my newer AAA Games where gifts. I just bought stuff like JC2 or Metro 2033 myself when it was really cheap.
So despite having 232 installable games, I am a poor fuck. I don't complain, I don't feel entitled, but sometimes there is more behind people that meets the eye.
And 100$ worth of Games can be like 20-30$ on a sale or less. So your comment is not really true.

+1 Even though it was a 90% Discount, at least they spent money. The Summerseal keys were free and exploited. Even Frozenbyte said they made a mistake and should have tested the app better. Those that are creating giveaways with exploited keys are not only taking advantage of the system here at SG, but also Frozenbyte's generosity.

No, YOUR Attitidude totally unnecessary. The keys are not exploitable in a way that you can have an infinite amount of them in a couple of seconds. You need to spin the wheel. If you are lucky and get multiple keys, well good for you, but that is not exploiting. The app is designed that way and the only ones to blame are Frozenbyte, but for what? To give away free shit? I don't blame them for anything but for not testing their app good enough.

Except that getting keys was totally random based on winning a slot machine with five winning outcomes and like 100 losing outcomes. That people were spinning in hopes of winning things that weren't Shadowgrounds, like Trine 2 CE coupons.

People are giving games, and other people are winning games. I see no problem with this(To me this is what Steamgifts is all about.).
Imo, it seems the only ones mad are those who use their contributor status as some sort of e-peen booster & who dislike others getting into their secret elite club in the "wrong way".

I, along with many others, create contributor-only giveaways to reward those that have actually donated something of real value. I keep mine relatively low because I know not everyone is fully of money, but now contributor-value has essentially been made irrelevant by people who have abused the system.

You could just as easily call it "abuse" when people buy stuff on sale and gift it on SG, then.(Or when people get free games/codes from friends, which they then decide to gift on SG.)
Imo, there shouldn't even be contributor-status. People should give for the sake of gifting and should not expect to get/need to get some imaginary status/fame in return. If a person buys & gifts games solely/mainly to gain contributor status(So as to be able to point to it like some sort of award or achievement.), then it was never about being generous to begin with(But just to stroke their own egos.)

No. Buying stuff that is one sale still requires you to spend something in order to make the giveaway. You're sacrificing some of your well-earned cash to give back to the community. Of course, morality kicks in when some decide to buy a shitty game to gift simply because it yields a higher contributor value with a minimal cost: I disagree with those as well, but at least they spent something in order to get that contributor value.

Still, some such people spend a couple dollars and get 5x the value(or more) added to their contributor status when the game goes back to full price.
Again, I don't think people should be looking at the negatives here but at the positives: More giveaways take place and more people get free games.
