And by that I mean how do I participate in the giveaways that I see listed on the homepage?

Is a person picked at random to recieve the gift once they have commented?

I know you're probably going to say read such and such before asking silly question, but I can't find anything that explains how this site works. So please feel free to link me to it :)

Thanks

  • You can enter into listed giveaways by clicking green button with text "enter" located on the giveaway page, if you have enough points (these are always incoming) and you don't already have the game. If you win (random), the person that is giving away the game will send it to you and you will have to redeem it to your steam library - you are not allowed to sell/trade/gift that game.

  • If you have a valid steam key / gift that you want to give away to a random person, you can use menu Giveaways > Create a giveaway. Remember that you must provide the promised gift once that giveaway ends.

More info is available in FAQ that is already linked.

What an obvious falsehood! Everyone knows that Anonymous wins every giveaway. P

You sacrifice the local, "girl next door," virgin to the unspeakable one, then via his dark gifts you are able to accumulate points, or, "P," from there, you can use those points to enter giveaways.

One further generates this dark, "P," by giving prayer to the unspeakable one, via his chosen unholy word, "thx."

Finally, one can also enter giveaways by entwining the entrails of a pair of living female mongooses and bashing them against your keyboard. The entrails, not the still-living mongooses.

A little bit of magic.

Easy.

1) Get hold of an Oxygen (O2) tank.
2) Open the valve.
3) Light a match.
4) Wait for the fire department to come and pick up the itty-bitty pieces of what remains of you.
5) Petition for a new life. Tell them the last one you had included a defective brain.

But Oxygen is an oxidiser, and not a fuel. So it isn't flammable.
If Oxygen burned, our atmosphere would've burned up a long time ago.

Hello there~!

Do not do anything else on this site until you read the FAQ. There are too many ways to get in trouble (and they're probably all legitimate and mostly common sense, but you need to know what they are.)

Well, at least you asked. Rather than just make a fake giveaway, thinking the site just magically gives you free games. lol

It's really rather self explanatory..

So I don't have to make my own giveaway? (I don't have anything to give).
How can I get more points?

1 decade ago
Permalink

Every giveaway made adds some points (a 5% of Steam price). Cap is 300P.

More detailed : The giveaways don't have to be made by you in order to get the points. You receive 5% in points, of the gift value from every new giveaway that is made on this site. For example : Somebody posted a Skyrim giveaway worth 50$, you get 1 Point from it and as everyone else from this site.

Though you only get points from public giveaways made

You get points over time. For every giveaway made by someone, you get 5% of the point value. I.e, Dead Island GOTY takes 20 points to enter. So when a giveaway for this game is made, you get 5% of those points (I cannot be bothered to do the math, since I've been up all night and it is 10AM).

This is the second question you have asked which you would know the answer to if you had read the FAQ. Several people have already suggested that you do so. Seeing has how it's a really good idea, I'm going to agree with them and point you to the FAQ.

But I've been reading the FAQ and it says that when you get 1000 points you can request a game for the value of the points you have. It doesn't say that 300 is the limit.

It also says you can get points by taking surveys and completing offers.

Can someone please clarify this?

Thanks

Quote from the FAQ :

What's with these points?

The point system is designed to prevent users from entering for every single giveaway. This lowers the overall number of entries, and provides everyone with better odds of winning games they're interested in playing. New users start out with 25P. Every time anyone submits a game, every member of the site, excluding the giveaway creator, receives 5 percent of that gifts value (in USD) in points. For example, if a $50 gift is created, every user on the site receives 2.5 points. And, if a $20 gift is created, everyone would receive 1 point. These points can then be spent on entering giveaways.

1P = $1 - When entering a giveaway, 1P is equal to $1. If you're entering for a chance to win a game valued at $20, you'll spend 20 points. If at anytime you decide to remove your entry while the giveaway is open, those points will be returned.

The maximum number of points that can be banked is 300. This is to prevent users from stocking up on points while being away for long periods of time.

It sounds like you're reading info about a different site, none of what you said is applicable to steamgifts. There is a 300 point limit, and points cannot be cashed in for a game directly, points can only be used to enter giveaways, and the winner is always randomly selected. There are also no surveys/offers related to this site in order to increase your point generation, as point generation is tied solely to the number of games being gifted and the value of these games (according to the US steam store price).

My question is answered, this thread is over.
If anyone calls me a troll (which isn't a very nice thing to do) then I will call you something back, simple as that.
Since my question has been answered and this thread is over no one needs to reply any more to this thread.
