That's the problem with expectations and the human perception of disappointment. You are given (or expect to be given) something somewhat exclusive (in this case a private link) but then it turns out it wasn't what you expected --> disappointment.

There is something similar - just in case staff hasn't noticed:
If you give something to people and then take it away from them again - huge frustration is guaranteed. Much much more, than if you just took something from them without having received something beforehand. On SG this is triggered for e.g. when people get CV for their GAs and then a month later get it taken away out of the blue again. I think I showed a way to soften up this occurrence in that one huge not pinned thread explaining cv.

Let me not delve deeper into what exactly happens when stupidity and disappointment are blended together (with my favorite strawberry topping of course)

It's not that you can't, but since everyone can already see it from the front page people expect that whatever gets posted in the forum will be private ones.

Being your first giveaway, I understand that you were excited about it and wanted to share the news. If every public giveaway got advertised in the forum however it would create a large amount of useless threads.

Don't let the complainers bring you down, and thanks for contributing to the site. :)
