Sad thread, very sad. But here is a tip I can give to you OP: If you can understand the letters on the keyboard go and buy a PC.
Console ported PC games are not really bad optimised, but the real problem is dumb people with laptops 'n shiet like that keep talking about why the latest games are not working on their PC /yes for them laptop=PC/, and it blends into "zomg looks better on console".
(Just an example: I often visit latest games forums on Steam, and 80% of the thread with the title "not working, crahing, help!" is about people who don't get what system requirements mean, and what is the difference between a latop and PC)
Also I built my PC nearly 3 years ago for 600$ /without monitor/, it runs every latest game almost on max. graphics, and in light of already released games it's still a better choice+performance combo than the consoles realeased NOW. All you need is some knowledge, or experience with computer parts, manufacturers, and even if you don't have that you can look for decent people who work at stores that shell these things they can help you get a great PC.

yep...have almost all including the very first one Comodor Amiga and Atari. (Missing only gamecube)
Don't get me wrong, I love consoles, but they will never beat the PC, not in graphics, not in value, not in usability.
I am buying games as on consoles so on PC and believe me, there is no comparison !

This ^ ,I got tons of games for free with Playstation +, You just gotta have Ps+
Comment has been collapsed.
Indeed. Free implies zero cost. Does PS+ come free? No.
Comment has been collapsed.
true but still its a good deal :)
but I was saying they are free if you have Ps+, Ps+ itself isn't free but same can be said for the Ps3 and internet connection
Comment has been collapsed.
Quite true. I never could see the fairness in there being a fee on multiplayer access when I'm already paying for internet access.
Comment has been collapsed.
I see you have no idea about the current market, yet you try to type this poor statement.
Let me correct you here.
YES ! you can build PC able to launch even battlefield 4 on med resolution. (retail is a fine example)
NO ! nobody said that 600$ PC is the best you can get
Comment has been collapsed.
i can play BF4 on max settings...what's ur problem man...i ask people what they think about next gen consoles and how the things will turn. I ain't say nothing else...+ with 600$ or euros u can't buy a proper pc.
Comment has been collapsed.
I bought mine for about 350 euros 5 years ago, and i can still run most games. I can't run them on high, not that i expect to. So yea, you can buy a decent pc relatively cheap, that will serve you well for many years, for both gaming and non gaming stuff.
EDIT: By most games i mean i can run Assassins Creed 3 for example. I don't mean i can run most indies, thats usually not so noteworthy, just to be clear
Comment has been collapsed.
There is no Problem.
But you came to the wrong neighborhood :D
You will find here PC users, altho we like consoles on some games, fact is console will never reach out to the PC.
Another fact is, that the similarity you are confusing as equal in grpahics is just because PC is being slowed down in performance by the game developers. They cant afford to invest in a full PC game, so they make port = making the PC game looks only slightly better.
I now believe this will change in the near future as nVidia and few game studios started to focus only on PC gaming....honeslty I cant wait for Chris robert's PC exclusivity <3

I've never been interested in space sims before, but Star Citizen looks very promising.

My $350 PC runs Tomb Raider on Ultra, 60+ fps all areas except the Shanty Town. I think that's good enough.
Comment has been collapsed.
My current computer I paid about $300 for and it could play most any newer game on low-mid settings just fine. I upgraded the PSU and GPU about a month ago and now it can play pretty well any game on high, or even ultra if I turn down a couple of the more intense settings. Cost me about $160 to upgrade after rebates.
I'd say that's pretty decent for a computer I bought four or five years ago, considering my brother has gone through two PS3s in the time I've had this comp. Hell, one of his friends is on his like, fourth 360 or something like that now.
Comment has been collapsed.
The old GPU was a Radeon HD 5550 before I upgraded. I forget what the old PSU was, but that doesn't really matter. The CPU is an AMD Phenom II X4 925 Processor 2.8Ghz. Currently has about 4g ram.
It was a decent little computer for what I paid for it, and like I said, it could play most any game on low settings, or mid if it was a bit older. I think the newest game I played on it before upgrading was the new Tomb Raider.
Also, did a quick Google and given the release date on the GPU, it's probably about a three year old PC. It feels like it's been longer, but it's still more than been worth it.
Comment has been collapsed.
My computer was ~$350, reusing monitor/keyboard/mouse/hard drive from earlier computer.
$150 Case + Motherboard + Phenom II x4 945 + 8GB RAM + junk PSU (bought as a bundle during Black Friday last year)
$150 2GB Radeon 7850
$50 better PSU
Last demanding game I ran was Tomb Raider, on ultra (with TressFX off). You can probably get this config for like $200 now.
Comment has been collapsed.
That sounds like my older system. Skyrim on max settings. That Radeon HD 7850 I'd replace with an R9 270 for similar performance with higher overclock potential, or buy another 7850 (ebay ftw) and run in crossfire. As for the CPU, that thing's still awesome today. Everything else is fine too, but I'd get another 8GB ram if possible.
Comment has been collapsed.
I mostly play indie games now anyways. There's absolutely no need to upgrade :P
Comment has been collapsed.
Well then, your build is probably madly overpowered. You're good for the decade, sir! And you can afford to pay your rent!
Comment has been collapsed.
When I'm sitting at a maximum of five feet away from my PC screen, the screen is as large as a 55" TV is from the couch. Now the only problem is changing the FOV to match how much closer I am to the screen so those damn console ports don't give me a headache. Or just install a hack to alter the FOV and any other developer deficiencies that have crept in from console land.
Comment has been collapsed.
In my opinion, you have consoles and pc's completely mixed up. Pc's are generally a lot more future proof and the only reason you need to replace a part is if it breaks or if you just want upgraded performance, whereas with consoles if you want either of those you have to buy a whole new one. Also ps4's do not have the same graphics as pc, consoles are still quite a way behind pc.
Comment has been collapsed.
yes they do...not exacly...but if u aren't pay attention u can't see any differences between pc and ps 4.
Comment has been collapsed.
but it's the closest to pc...next gen will be better. It's just, I don't know...i prefer shooters for PC and the rest of the games for consoles.
Comment has been collapsed.
i was never try to compare consoles and pc's...i jsut wanna knew if it's worth to make a new pc's as i did and the publishers port games from consoles with bad optimization. The fact i said PS4 have graphics like PC it's because on consols Ghosts look better then PC. So, i do believe that PC's are good, but i can't see that developers start to don't give a fuck about us who buy their products.
Comment has been collapsed.
You never try to compare consoles and PCs! Only the graphics. And the title of the thread. And the lifetime of a console vs. PC. And the the game optimization between console and PC. Yup, not comparing at all.
Comment has been collapsed.
Console ports are 1% of the games you'll find on PC, and that's just the new games launching. The vast majority of PC games are very well made, and not made by console developers.
Comment has been collapsed.
The "next-gen" (pointless marketing term) consoles are already behind PCs. Xbone can't even run all games in 1080p (not at 60 fps at least). Positive is that the early titles on new consoles never look as good (or run as well) as the titles in the latter half of the consoles' lifecycles. So there will be some improvement, but by then the gap between PCs and consoles has become even larger.
Comment has been collapsed.
If you bought a PC now that beat the PS4 and XBO, and all you cared about was maintaining that position and not improving, you wouldn't have to buy a new PC for ten years either.
May I ask what you're typing on now? If it's a desktop PC, then all you'd have to do is spend around the same price as a console to turn it into a "gaming PC" that beats the consoles, because odds are you're already set in the CPU and RAM department.
Comment has been collapsed.
i've got gaming pc made this year...my firend have a PS4 and the graphics are like on PC.

it was about Ghosts...and everyboody knows most of the games that went out are looking good on consoles and not on pc's...excluding BF4. More games are looking better on cosoles then on PC...what is the problem? That's why i make this thread, is it worth to buy games ported from consoles and buy new pc's or move on to consoles....it's hard to udnerstand what i ask?

CoD Ghosts looks almost the same on every platform. In fact it looks like it was made in 2008-2010 and it's badly optimized on PC.
Comment has been collapsed.
actualy the pc version has some low graphics then console version. And it's not only me who observe that, u can check it on google too. The other thing it's true...this is my first CoD i bought and will be the last...it's like MW2 ... but as i said...on pc looks worst then console version.
Comment has been collapsed.
As long as the developer doesn't lock down the PC version's graphics, there is no such thing as a game with better graphics on console. A console is a locked-down device. A PC is fully customisable.
Not to mention, the higher your resolution, the less noticeable further resolution improvements become. Other than color range, I can barely notice the difference between XB1/PS4 visuals. Unless I'm looking for jaggies. Those stand out like thumbtacks under your fingernails.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, actually. You're not using great grammar to really convey your questions. Bad console ports aside, you've got most everything backwards. You don't need to buy a new computer if you actually shell out the money and buy a good one in the first place. You can also incrementally upgrade your computer, so rather than dropping $800 on a machine, you can do $100-200 at a time, and use the old parts in new computers. PS4 doesn't have the same graphics as PC.
PC will always have the better graphics, it's only up to the devs to actually set options for them to improve. Case in point, every game that can be modded will eventually have one for aesthetics. Increased texture quality, better meshes... and higher FPS.
Finally, the reason Ghosts looks better on console than it does on PC is because PC has a higher standard, and on a console everything you're looking at should be at least a few meters away. You don't really notice the fact that everything looks terrible because you can't actually see it.
Overall, PC is cheaper than console. The problem is that it's not as easy as 'go pick up a $500 box and stick in some games' and so it's not as friendly, and can be scary for newbies.

For me, it's like comparing apples and oranges because I like them for different things. I don't tend to play the same games on my Xbox that I do on PC; specifically, I prefer the way FPS games control on the Xbox more than I like them on PC, and PC tends to have a better indie gaming community.
Comment has been collapsed.
I think you've missed my point a bit. Not all PC games are compatible with a controller. Not all PC games are good ports. I prefer them on the console if they were made for the console because they generally control better.
Edit: also a console comes with a controller whilst a PC comes with a keyboard and mouse, so I was judging them accordingly.

Oh yeah, Gran Turismo 2 on an emulator, with the graphics pumped WAY up. 1080p Playstation 1 games are nnnnnice.

There are a couple native Metal Gear games on PC too. I have Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance.

PC can be built for the same price as a console. They don't have to be upgraded every one or two years either. If you invest some $700-800 then you'll be able to run today's games on very high settings and the newest games 4+ years into the future still on acceptable settings. The PC said will also outperform the consoles until possibly towards the end of its life cycle, which doesn't even have to end in 5 years.
The ability to upgrade is also more of an advantage than anything else. You have more freedom to build and adjust your own experience. This goes for the software and peripherals as well.
Lastly the games are generally getting (far) cheaper discounts on a PC than on the consoles. You will also have backward compatibility and don't have to pay a monthly subscription.

The only things consoles have over PCs is exclusives, which is a developer issue. PCs are simply superior in every way.
"PS4 have the same graphics as PC"
This may be true for your rig, but some people, and by some I mean quite a few, have gaming rigs that would make a PS4 wet itself with envy.

I have a ps3 and a gamer PC, and i previusly had a SEGA, a PS2 and a Wii, and i have to say PC was always the best to me, even when I used to have the PS2 back in 2007, I could play games from the PS2 like Medal Of Honor, and play sega games like Sonic in my pc so i always like'd it more, and now, the only reason i still have a Ps3 is because you can't really play too much games co op with your friends in the same machine in PC, so the PS3 comes in handy for 4 players. I think its worth way more a PC than a console, and there isn't a lot of "bad ports", there's just some bad games like GTA IV but with time there end up being playable, + the offers, sometimes you even get the games for free (like Mafia II, Civ V, Enclave, Metro2033).
Comment has been collapsed.
A console it's a PC with limited hardware. You can need to buy one just every few years, but after a few years the new games will start not being able to play on console with full graphics as the console hardware will not be able to deal with that.
For exclusives, soon or later every console get a PC emulator, so everyone can buy a Xbox or PS control and plug it to the PC and play at will ^^ (And no need to choice if I prefer to play the games from XB or PS!)
But I'll give you the point about the bad ports, they indeed happens sometimes >.< But a console control on the PC usualy make the experience less painfull, like Dark Souls. (First game I ever think about then I think about a bad port >.<)
But there's another point, I can format and install any OS I want on my computer, last time I remember to hear about Sony was puting on jail people for trying that on PS3 right? (Ok ok, not really puting on jail MOST of them, but you got the point ^^')
So to put it short. I'll keep PCs as my first gaming gear for some good time I believe, it's more versatile at all, I may decide to someday buy a console just for being easily to transport, but something that gonna happens just if someday I have more money than I can use to buy computer games X

Console:
New game comes out, $60
1 year later, game is still $60 new
New console comes out, old games unplayable
PC:
New game comes out: $60
1 year later, the game is like $15 new
PC is always able to play old games
I see no reason to buy a console. They don't do anything better than a PC does and the games are more expensive and in the end you get fucked when the next gen comes out.
Comment has been collapsed.
What you said about consoles is completely wrong xD, 1 year later the price is going to go down of course and probably be about the same as PC but PC then has sales where as consoles don't have when you buy them in stores and online stores aren't as good with sales, Also who says you can't play old games? I keep all my old consoles because sometimes I do go back and play old games :P
If you live alone or with someone then PC's are probably better but for a family consoles are easier to use.
Comment has been collapsed.
I got a word about that.
Console games hardly go down in price, especially those by Activision.
As for old games, we meant playing the old games on a new console. Can't do that now, can you?
Whether you live alone or not, PCs are the best choice. Consoles don't have a place now.
Comment has been collapsed.
Playing a 4 person game on 1 computer screen isn't very appealing , And don't say console games hardly go down in price after a year they get to around $20 depending on the game, Of course there will be some hard-ass companies who fail to see the point in lowering the price but that doesn't give you a reason to link that with all console games and generalize, It doesn't even matter which is better because its about opinions anyway people will chose whatever choice they want and if they want someone else opinion they will ask.
I do both and it works for me since my laptop can't handle newer games I get those on Ps3 and then for indie games or older games I'll buy them on steam.

I play 4 person game on my pc on my 42" samsung led. i hook my pc to a 23" ips panel for working and to a 42" samsung led to play...
pc gaming prices go down faster compared to consoles, not to mention there's a lot of cheap bundles available too.
some games have awesome modification capabilities on pc like skyrim, gta iv and such titles
but i do hookup my consoles to my 42" samsung led too... now if i wanna play low graphic settings i play on my ps3/xbox360, currently i'm waiting for the ps4 to be available in my country so i can play medium graphic quality setting game on it.... and while waiting, if i wanna play ultra settings quality... i play on my pc :)

Same :D I connect my Laptop to my HD Tv (Not sure how many inches) thats mounted on my wall and I then put the HDMI in my Ps3 whenever i want to play that :) but most people don't do that.

I can't recall the last time I bought a game in a store, or for full price unless it was an indie title.
I think it's been more than seven years now.
When you look in a store, you're severely limited. You can only look at what they have in stock, or what they can ship from another store.
When you look online, you can shop around for the best price while in your underwear with a big tupperware bowl filled with half a box of cereal. At age 33. I can feel your envy from here.

Is it worth now and in the future to make a pc? I personaly think it's not, this new games which came out are bad optimized for pc and bad ports from consoles. Plus I don't believe it is wise to buy something new every 1-2 years just to work a game wich u bought. A console u'll buy once for 10 years. So, what's ur opinion about this thing...will be consoles better then pc's (PS4 have the same graphics as PC) and the comunity will get bigger on consoles? I believe it will and it is much more cheaper to buy a console then PC wich will never end buying a new and a new piece over and over. So, what do you think guys?
Edit:I see some people don't understand why this thread is made. I made it to see what people think about buying a new PC and play ported games which are bad optimzied for pc's and not working properly or moving to the next gen conoles. Exemple: Ghosts looks better on consoles then on PC.
