I took my IELTS examination on 20th February. Glad that the outcome meets my expectation of four 6s(If you know what I am talking about). I am dreaming for four 7s or four 8s but well, one step at a time.
Here comes the question: Do you need or wish to take an English level test, if yes, what is your goal that you want to achieve?
Well if you are a native speaker, I'll be grateful if you can give me some useful tips on my IELTS maybe?
Oh Please help me to correct any grammar, spelling and/or wording mistakes in this post :3

Now, to the point, in order to share my joy there is something I gonna do and certainly I bet u know what that is.

Good luck with that and gratz.
I myself got a Proficiency in english some years ago, and I admit it was easier than expected. I guess all those years in forums, watching films with subtitles, playing adventure games, reading tolkien/dnd books etc, helped immensely after all. English is also a relatively easy language to try and master. Well, compared to others that is.

Yep, I had to. Basically every lecturer (and anyone doing the office job in universities) in my country is obligated to take an English proficiency test (IELTS, TOEFL, CEFR, etc.) and get at least IELTS 5.5 or equivalent for non-English majors, and at least 6.5 for English-related majors.

I got 8. (W6.5, S7, L9, and R9)

Now that a fairly good score band. I just sorta screwed by section two of listening part this time, time to practise more.

Believe me or not, the only thing I ever did to my listening is to listen to US-UK music. My reading also improve a few folds by reading manga. Only then that I started reading serious articles in science and stuff. And because there is no entertaining method to practice writing and speaking, you can see that those two skills of mine is relatively poor :P

Well it is almost that case for every English learner, relatively poor on writing or speaking.

The only english test i've ever taken was TOEFL (because of this brazilian program Science Without Borders). My goal was being able to go abroad, so I started watching all my TV shows with english subtitles, then with no subtitles at all (I didn't have the money to do a preparatory course, so that was it). I know TOEFL is way easier than IELTS, but without a preparatory course I got a pretty awesome score . Good luck with your goals, never stop trying and practicing. Thanks for the giveaway!

I have couples of Brazilian friends during my English language course they are exchange students of that particular program as well, room mates to be more specific. You people are really nice and hospitable. :)

This is for academic.

Listening: 8.00
Reading: 9.00
Writing: 6.50
Speaking: 9.00

Overall: 8.00

Sigh. I will have to resit the test, because I got less than 7 in writing.

Congrats.

It has been years since I took my TOEFL and IELTS exams. I am not sure if they still use the same style of scoring but when I sat the exams, I scored 8.5 overall band for IELTS and 118 for TOEFL iBT. In my experience, IELTS was a bit more difficult than TOEFL.

I had it a bit easier because I was already a member of the British Council Library for a year at least before giving the tests and I used to read a lot of books from there. They have some really good preparatory materials for English language tests.

As for your language in the post, most of it is well written. Just a few things like " 20th of February" or it can be " February 20". But a native speaker can help you out more because grammar has always been my weakest link.

Cheers!

One thing I don't like about all those English certificates- they expire! And as far as I remember IELTS validity period is extreamly short.
